FC Basel (2 Votes in 7 Days) edit

Nominated July 3 2006; needs at least 3 votes by July 10 2006
Reason:
  • History section starts from 1960 when it should start from 1893.
  • There are a lot of red links in the player section.

David Villa edit

Nominated 30 August 2006; needs at least 3 votes by 6 September 2006
Reason:

Quite short and unstructured for an article on a player of repute and recent track record.

  • 25 goals(2nd top scorer) last season in UEFA's top seeded league.
  • 3 world cup goals inspite of not even starting all of the 4 matches he played in.
  • With Valencia playing Champions League this season, if the player lives up to his billing, there would be lot of visits to the english article on him.

Heysel Stadium disaster edit

Nominated 26 September 2006; needs at least 6 votes by 10 October 2006
Reason:
  • The Heysel Stadium disaster is one of the biggest tragedies to ever hit football. I have attempted over many months to improve this article, but very often people write on the talk page apparently disgusted by the bias present in the article. I have asked for a peer review — but got no response. I have asked for help before. Perhaps this nomination will help get people to notice that this article could do with some attention. At the very least it'd be good for people to check the article for any perceived biases and report them on the talk page. However I am more looking for new editors to take over the article. I feel that I've taken it as far as I can. aLii 16:09, 26 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

That'll be me. While I don't currently have access to all my books about City, I've not found much in the ones I have to hand. I don't think my programme collection has any from those two seasons either. His time at the club was undistinguished, he only made a total of 17 starts + 8 sub. Unfortunately I doubt I could add more than about one or two sentences. I think he fared better at Norwich though. You could try User:Dweller, who is a Norwich fan. José Mourinho (1 vote in 7 days) edit

Nominated 30 October 2006; needs at least 3 votes by 6 November 2006
Reason:

Probably currently the best football coach in the world: In his first 2 complete seasons as a manager, he won 2 Portuguese championships, 1 Portuguese Cup, a Champions League and a UEFA Cup with FC Porto. Then, two English Championships in two years. A very dividing and controversial figure: either you like him or hate him; called by some as an arrogant, by others as a genius. He deserves a better article. He's one of the main figures of the sport in the world.

This article, about England’s greatest football manager, has been improved a lot over the past few months, but still needs vast improvement.

e.g. No infobox; his playing career, both at club and international level, is covered very sketchily; and the whole section on his career as England manager could do with a acomplete re-write to remove a lot of the POV stuff.

Brookhattan edit

Nominated February 14 2007; needs at least 3 votes by February 21 2007
Reason:

One of the greatest soccer clubs in American history, they were the first to win an American treble and provided many players for the US's 1930 FIFA World Cup, where a Brookhattan player scored the infamous winning goal against England. This article needs some help with logo, colour's, and history.

Rafael van der Vaart edit

Nominated February 17 2007; needs at least 3 votes by February 24 2007
Reason:

For a highly notable player, the article is still a stub and information is dated.

Coventry City F.C. edit

Nominated February 23 2007; needs at least 3 votes by March 2 2007
Reason:

A decent article, but does need a prose adjustment and a reshuffle of sections. With a bit of luck and sorting it could be enough for GA status - the core info's there, but it needs to be easier to find.

Michael Bradley edit

Nominated March 25 2007; needs at least 3 votes by April 1 2007
Reason:

Michael is one of the up-and-coming stars in America, and his article could certainly use improvement. I don't really expect this to get voted for, but the article would definitely be better with just a little more organization, and I'm not exactly sure how that should be approached.

Lincolnshire Senior Cup edit

Nominated April 2 2007; needs at least 3 votes by April 9 2007
Reason:

Despite being somewhat of a niche subject, I believe that this article needs some serious cleaning up. I've done the best I can so far to improve this article, however, due to lack of information, I'm having trouble adding more. There's also many disputes as to who was the outright winner of a said competition, or whether it was shared or not. Everyones knowledge may solve this problem!

F.C. Internazionale Milano edit

Nominated April 23 2007; needs at least 3 votes by April 30 2007
Reason:

Inter Milan, i.e. the new Italian champions. This article needs quite a massive cleanup, and much more reference to its early history, especially in the 1960s (the so-called Grande Inter times).

Alf Ramsey edit

Nominated April 29 2007; needs at least 3 votes by May 6 2007
Reason:

This man was the only manager to take England to a World Cup final.

The article is riddled with PoV and inconsistencies, is badly written and needs someone to take hold of it and produce an article worthy of his achievements.

European Super Cup edit

Nominated May 17 2007; needs at least 3 votes by May 24 2007
Reason:

Poor article for the Super Cup. The tables does not look good. The article should be better for a match between the UEFA Champions League and UEFA Cup winners.
