The lift hill and barrel roll down drop of Iron Gwazi

Iron Gwazi is a steel-track hybrid roller coaster at Busch Gardens Tampa Bay, a theme park in Tampa, Florida. To repurpose the Anheuser-Busch brewery, Busch Gardens announced the construction of Gwazi in 1998. Great Coasters International built the original dueling wooden roller coaster with two separate tracks. Gwazi opened on June 18, 1999, earning acclaim from critics. Over time, Gwazi became difficult to maintain, leading to one track closing in 2012 and the other in 2015. The wooden structure remained dormant for several years while the park explored various replacement attractions. Busch Gardens announced in 2019 that they would replace the wooden structure with a steel-tracked hybrid roller coaster called Iron Gwazi, with Rocky Mountain Construction retrofitting the existing layout. Iron Gwazi opened to the public on March 11, 2022, garnering positive reviews from critics and won the 2022 Best New Roller Coaster category in the annual Amusement Today's Golden Ticket Awards.
