  • Reply Thanks ‡ Єl Cid of Valencia talk. I've read all the relevant guidelines, the article meets more than one section of MUSICBIO. But admin deleted anyway and said that is "just" a guideline, then reverted when challenged, but hen ticked off of another admin for deleion, second admin deleted with no explanation but simply said no justification. What's the point of following guidelines if decision will be made by admins based on their own interpretation of guidelines. Mohana

I was about to create the article about the town Mohana in Odisha state of India, when I noticed that it has the history. I understand from the AfD that some editors had been confused and changed the article content between Mohan, Uttar Pradesh and Mohana in Odisha. The Odisha town as an extra a at the end of its name. The odisha town passes WP:GEOLAND it has sufficient population and even has its own assembly constituency at Mohana (Odisha Vidhan Sabha constituency). Over on BLPN François Robere requested I review the history of this article's multiple deletions, prior to it reaching its current state - one that seems to have reached a state where it isn't being nominated for deletion.

The article was discussed at AFD three times:

On 2008-10-06 Rjd0060 also deleted the article, as an expired prod. There is something odd about that. If this was a recreation of the previously deleted version, shouldn't it have been deleted as a G4? But if this was a brand new version, written from scratch, would it have even been eligible for a prod?

Anyhow, I'd like to comply with François Robere's request, and I think I'll need to see those deleted versions to do that properly.

Presumably the current version is the third to be written from scratch.

If there some policy based reason why the deleted revisions can't be restored, can whoever makes that decision leave a clear explanation here?

In the US justice system, in National Security cases, material that is deemed classified at a secrecy rating above that held by the Defense Counsel will be withheld. A judge will very occasionally issue that kind of ruling after a request from the Prosecution or a security agency. But, when they issue those rulings they accompany them with an unclassified summary of what the classified evidence said.

I'd like to see similar brief summaries here, on the wikipedia, when an administrator decides that revisions have to be hidden from non-administrators. If there is some policy reason why the deleted versions shouldn't be made visible I request that summary here.   •   Done Responding to your comments @Geo Swan:: The only redacted edit is from 16 September 2017 with a description of serious BLP violations. I would agree with the reason, and the redacted edit is basically vandalism. If the content had to be removed because of national security reasons, then the WMF should take control, and remove the content from the database, as revision hiding or oversighting would be insufficient to preserve national security. And in this case do not expect a reason to be given that would draw attention to the removal. Sometimes I do delete or revision delete material without a clear reason (other valid deletion). This is normally done so as not to encourage the person who wrote it to repeat the insertion, and also to avoid drawing attention from others.
