Shouldn't it be List of notable residents of Barnes, London? What's the usual style? Yes - "of" is rightly the norm.
The 2nd sentence, about WP refs etc, should be a note not text, I think.
You might add more explaining the reasons for the area's popularity to certain types of people. For example, for actors, proximity to Pinewood Studios, Shepperton Studios, various BBC studios, and easy access to the West End.
The first person I thought of was Christopher Dresser, who's not there. His article doesn't mention it, but he did live in Barnes.
