Islam edit

Any suggestions regarding any of the sections in this article would be highly appreciated. Thank you for your time. BhaiSaab 01:30, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The section on contemporary Islam needs to be rewritten. As it stands, it's all about "progressive" Islam. It ignores Sufism, Wahabism, Salafism, terrorism, Shi'a/Sunni tensions, the Muslim diaspora, etc. The section on different schools of Islam should be moved and put under the "contemporary" heading and then the conflicts between these schools should be discussed.
The "see also" section is a disgrace. It carefully avoids links to any of the controversial topics (which I think some of the Muslim editors would like to cover up) and has a whole roster of links to odd little articles of no importance that were someone's pet project. Thank you for your suggestions Zora. I'll be sure to note them in the to do list soon. BhaiSaab 03:26, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The Criticism of Islam article is covers all the various controversial topics you are referring to.--JuanMuslim 1m 22:13, 1 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Exactly that's why have the criticism article in the first place. All other religion articles are this way too in their see also sections. I also don't agree with Zora on discussing all the little conflicts between schools. The person reading wants to know about Islam not the little details. So far I think the article is fine with a few exceptions. Usually the regular editors on the page deal with suggestions on the talk page, so a peer review seems unnecessary, and so does a to do list. But I think this is a good way to get suggestions on changes that could be made and some that should be made. --a.n.o.n.y.m t 02:11, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
The lead should definetely be expanded. See WP:LEAD - Tutmosis 02:04, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
One minor thought - maybe the Qur'an should have its own section outside of the Beliefs section. History of how the Qur'an was transmitted, for example, isn't really a belief. BigDT 23:09, 2 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you everyone for your input. BhaiSaab 06:25, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

It might be good to have photos of women in islam too. N3MO
