OpenStreetMap (OSM) is a free, open mapping project. It is a world map created and maintained by volunteer contributors. OSM data appears on Wikipedia on maps throughout the project.
OSM data is made up of three types of features: nodes (points,) ways (lines and polygons,) and relations (multi-polygons and collections of features.) Each feature has tags describing its attributes. Each tag has a key and value often written as key=value.

Tasks for New Contributors edit
- Link Wikidata items to OpenStreetMap features with OSM ↔ Wikidata matcher.
- Adding etymology:wikidata tags to OSM features. Using a specialized MapComplete layer or the general purpose ID Editor.
Tasks for Experienced Contributors edit
- Splitting and tagging co-named sections of streets.
- The key "honorary_name" is generally accepted as the best tag for the honorary name by the local OSM community.
- Mapping features from Queens Name Explorer that don't exist on OSM.
