Wikipedia:Meetup/Boston/MIT Art+Feminism 2018

Join the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Libraries for our 2018 Art+Feminism Wikipedia edit-a-thon on March 30, 2018.


What: Art+Feminism Edit-a-thon, focused on artists’ books and the artists who make them. Join us for a talk by Anna Boutin-Cooper, Librarian for SA+P at MIT, about artists’ books in the MIT Libraries collection, followed by an introduction to editing Wikipedia. We will then write and edit articles about women artists and their works. Though we will have a special focus on artists' books, any topic is welcome.

When: Friday, March 30, 2018, 1-4pm. Artists' Book talk at 1:30; introduction to Wikipedia editing at 2:00.

Where: Massachusetts Institute of Technology, 77 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA, 14N-132 (building 14N, room 132).

What to bring: bring your laptop, or use the computers in the room. Training and snacks will be provided.

  • 1:00-1:30 -- get settled, get started, introduction to library resources, create Wikipedia accounts
  • 1:30-2:00 -- Talk and demonstration by Anna Boutin-Cooper, Librarian for SA+P at MIT, about artists’ books in the MIT Libraries collection
  • 2:00-2:30 -- Introduction to editing Wikipedia (talk and demonstration)
  • 2:30-4:00 -- edit Wikipedia!
