Beirut editathons for better political accountability edit

The parliamentary election is finally over, and now the hard work starts! The representative main task is legislation and make the government accountable for issues related to solid waste management, land use policy, housing, national financing, and more. There are old and new representatives with very little information publicly available about them. We will add them to Wikipedia in order to keep them accountable to us, their electors.

No previous knowledge of Wikipedia editing is required. The editathon will include a training on how to edit Wikipedia. Bring your knowledge of your representative with you, your research tools, and a laptop to use for editing.

The idea is to call Wikimedians, techies, interns, students, NGOs, etc. to add information on Wikipedia and WIkidata about new elected deputies.

We start by the new elected assembly, check all the deputies (especially the new elected and young ones), then add information for those who don’t have Wikipedia pages. (We can leverage the recent study by SMEX and LADE).

Around 30 attendees will gather in two Saturdays (September 15 and 22), at Masaha, to search these politicians, check information and add them to Wikipedia and Wikidata.
