Remedies edit

The remedies are tailored to minimize disruption to articles about automotive vehicles. Sanctions imposed cannot be undone by another administrator without approval of the sanctioning administrator or an appeal at the administrators' noticeboard. Prior to being sanctioned, editors must be notified of these sanctions with the {{subst:Gs/Cars notification}} template. Pages may be tagged with {{Gs/Cars sanctions}}, and {{Editnotice AutoImages 1RR}} may be used to indicate that articles are under general sanctions. The presence of these templates is not a prerequisite for issuing sanctions, but editors should still be made aware of them prior to being sanctioned. Use the {{subst:Community sanction}} template when imposing sanctions. For blocks, use {{subst:Uw-csblock}}.

  • Any uninvolved administrator may, at their own discretion, impose sanctions on any editor working in the area of conflict if, despite being warned, that editor repeatedly or seriously fails to adhere to the purpose of Wikipedia, any expected standards of behavior, or any normal editorial process.
  • The sanctions imposed may include blocks of up to one year in length, bans from editing any page or set of pages within the area of conflict, bans on any editing related to the topic or its closely related topics, restrictions on reverts or other specified behaviors; or any other measures which the imposing administrator believes are reasonably necessary to ensure the smooth functioning of the project.
  • Prior to any sanctions being imposed, the editor shall be given a warning with a link to this decision and, where appropriate, should be counseled on specific steps that they can take to improve their editing in accordance with relevant policies and guidelines.
  • Sanctions imposed may be appealed to the imposing administrator or at the appropriate administrators' noticeboard.

In addition a one revert rule, which does not require notice, with the following specifications is imposed:

  • All edits which seek to replace one image of an automobile with another, are placed under WP:1RR (one revert per editor per article per 24 hour period). When in doubt, assume an edit is related and so is a revert.
    • Clear vandalism of whatever origin may be reverted without restriction. Reverts of edits made by anonymous IP editors that are not vandalism are exempt from 1RR but are subject to the usual rules on edit warring.
    • Editors who otherwise violate this 1RR restriction may be blocked without warning by any uninvolved administrator, even on a first offence.

Log of notifications edit

Editors who have been notified of the existence of these sanctions should be logged here, along with a diff of the notification. For consistency, the template {{subst:Gs/Cars notification}} must be used. Any editor can issue a notification. The appropriate procedure for notifying editors of the existence of these sanctions is described here.

Log of administrative actions edit

Log blocks, topic bans, and all other administrative actions here. Include a diff of the sanction, action-date-time-duration etc, and the user name of the imposing administrator. Use the {{subst:Community sanction}} template when imposing sanctions. For blocks, use {{subst:Uw-csblock}}.
