Developing Open Knowledge
- The resident provided training at the Protests and Suffragettes event, in collaboration with Govan's Hidden Histories. The event was very well attended and the group seemed keen for further session to take place. 6 new articles were created, and 9 improved.
Develop, involve and engage WMUK volunteers
- Training for museum staff and volunteers of Museums nan Eilean had been suggested in the closing stages of the project, however time would not allow. A small extension to the project was made possible by careful budget management and two training sessions were held on Benbecula, and Lewis, for museums staff and volunteers. Feedback was received that training being provided on location was particularly appreciated, and underscores the value of budget being made available for travel in order to reach rural communities, and to make training more accessible.
Reducing barriers to accessing open knowledge
- The resident met with a representative of Scottish Libraries to discuss how Wiki work can benefit Libraries in terms of reach and outreach.
- The resident met with representatives of Historic Environment Scotland to discuss how Wiki work could benefit the organisation in terms of reach and outreach.
Developing, supporting & engaging with other Wikimedia & Open Knowledge communities
- The resident and Stinglehammer (resident at the University of Edinburgh), met with a representative of the CCA (Centre for Contemporary Art) in Glasgow to discuss Wiki training and further work with a local history and community outreach group.
Close of project edit
The project is now complete, and a Summary/Reflections report for the extension period will follow. I would like to extend huge thanks to all those who have contributed and supported the project, and in particular Kelly from Museums Galleries Scotland.
