Commons images edit

Photo chosen to illustrate the Wikidata item Dodd-Walls Centre for Photonic and Quantum Technologies (Q55231873)

Images in the Centre's collections can fall under a range of copyright restrictions. If an image is to be uploaded to Wikimedia Commons it should be licensed under Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC-BY 4.0) or be Public Domain/Out of Copyright in the USA (this is where Commons is hosted). If the image does not meet these requirements it should not be uploaded to Commons. According to NZ law, the copyright for photographs taken by employees "in the course of their employment" belong to the Dodd-Walls Centre, as does the copyright for photographs DWC commissions (unless the photographer explicity retains copyright in their contract). It's still important to credit the photographer as well as the DWC when the photo is used, using the Credit Line field in the Commons template if there is one.
