Modelled off the similar list for Wayne Rooney which looks as though it will be a FL in the next few days, this does have a few minor formatting variations. Comments nice piece of work, I made a tweak or two, but have the following comments:
  • I avoid SHOUTING in the refs.
  • "of international football, scoring at a rate of a-goal-a-game, culminating with his first hat-trick in international football" repetitive use of "international football" in this sentence.
  • "international hat-tricks, in addition to the one" would use a semi-colon here.
  • Tehelné Pole redirects to a neighbourhood in Bratislava rather than a stadium, perhaps pipe the section which discusses the football stadium?

*"...Ballon d'Or winner as world football's player of the year...", as far as I'm aware the Ballon d'Or was a strictly European accolade. Perhaps rephrase to 'Europe's footballer of the year'?

  • Ref 3, publisher is 'Herald & Times Group'
  • Tricky one this. The Herald & Times Group are the publishers now, and as an online source, I guess that works. However, when the article was originally published, the publisher was Scottish Television, as listed. Harrias talk 08:34, 13 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
  • Publisher for The Times? (This is for consistency purposes, you could just add it for Ref 4 -- it doesn't have to be added for all the Times sources. Or you just remove the publishers in Ref 2 and 3...)
  • Again, tricky. Prior to 1967, The Times didn't have a "parent company" publisher, it was owned by the Astor family. In 1967, "Times Newspapers Ltd" was formed, so I'm not over sure the best way to approach it. Maybe, as you suggest, simply by removing all the publishers?   • I think the list would look better if rows for goals from the same match were separate, like at the Rooney list.

  • "He is England's second all-time goalscorer, having scored 49 times for his country": needs an updated ref in light of Rooney breaking the record.

  • Ref 10 could be used, but we could do with a better source than the Daily Mail.

  • "successful 1966 FIFA World Cup campaign" I would prefer to have this be more explicit about ENG winning the title
  • "Bloomsbury Publishing plc" shouldn't the latter be capitalized?
  • ref 16 and 45 are missing dates

  • I don't understand "The Times (55408)" notation
  • The number in brackets is the issue number, it's quite common when referencing The Times, and is part of what they request for citations. Harrias talk 19:41, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

  • more this to notes: England score listed first, score column indicates score after each Charlton goal.

Unless I am missing something, aren't these goals the pinnacle of his career? I think you could expand on this sentence and say one goal in the group stage, and both of goals in the 2-1 semifinal win. Nergaal (talk) 23:03, 15 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
