Former ice hockey goaltender Ray Emery died tragically earlier this year. When I went to go nominate the article for In The News, I was pleased to find that it was a featured article, but then horrified once I actually took a look at the article and saw what it looked like. I worked with a few others to at least get the article in presentable-enough shape to pass the ITN standards, but now that it has departed the main page, I think it is time to re-assess its FA status. When the bulk of the article was written and approved for FA back in 2008, Emery's career looked to be all but over; however, he had a pretty significant comeback. During this time, he was also involved in some controversial events as noted in the article. So much of the article has changed (including the bulk of the "controversial" section) that it has little resemblance with its FA form. As mentioned, I was able to at least cite everything in the article, but it needs a lot of love, particularly regarding 1a, 1c, 1d (a lot of tabloid-ish coverage), and 2c. Leaving a quick note so it doesn't look like I'm ignoring this FAR ... At this moment, I really have neither the time nor energy to devote to this process. The review request is perfectly reasonable as the article was promoted 10 years ago and a lot has changed since. Best wishes! Maxim(talk) 20:43, 12 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
I'm willing to help with this but I wish you would have followed the FAR procedure and enumerated the issues on the article Talk page first. That way, interested editors have a chance to address your concerns before coming here. @WP:FAR coordinators: This could be a procedural close, and we can work out the issues at Talk:Ray Emery. --Laser brain (talk) 20:02, 13 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
Concur, closing to allow for talk-page discussion. Nikkimaria (talk) 23:20, 13 August 2018 (UTC)[reply]
