Questions: edit

Have you read the AMA FAQ?

  • Answer: Yes

How would you describe the nature of this dispute? (policy violation, content dispute, personal attack, other)

  • Answer: I don't know if the personal attacks policy of the Wikipedia would apply on this case. Is a direct offense against the lead singer of Keane, Tom Chaplin, from both two users The Mekon, Mr. Scare. The Mekon made also a comment about Mexican people but obviously that wouldn't fit into PA. Is not a dispute but more like an action for bother me since I like Keane.

What methods of Dispute Resolution have you tried so far? If you can, please provide wikilinks so that the Advocate looking over this case can see what you have done.

  • Answer: I looked after an administrator but he blocked me because of removing content from the user page

What do you expect to get from Advocacy?

  • Answer: Wikipedia is certainly not a place to offend people, being users or not so I think any offensive mention against anyone should be removed. I don't expect The Mekon or Mr. Scare to be blocked however

Summary: edit

I'd like to request an advocate's assistance to solve the dispute between me and The Mekon about keeping an offensive message on his user page for Mexican people, people liking Keane and Tom Chaplin singer of the same band. A similar message involving Keane and Tom Chaplin can be found on Mr. Scare's user page. I first removed the offensive comment on The Mekon's user page and was immediatly reverted by him. After a second or third revert, I called for Centrx (who previously helped me to remove offensive comments on Talk:Tom Chaplin and Talk:Keane) to helped me out with, what I thought to be, vandalism. He however expressed the comments on the user page were'nt not vandalism so I was commiting vandalism. After a while, I decided to stop but someone (most likely from the Keane forum) reverted again the comments; The Mekon was sure it had been me and Centrx blocked me for vandalising an user page for 24 hours (until Sunday 22, circa 1:30UTC). Some moments ago, I saw the comment on the other user's page and now I think is enough. I don't know if there's a policy against this because I think Wikipedia should not be a place to offend people, being actually users or not.--Fluence 01:15, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Discussion: edit

Hi, I think such a case is not a matter or dispute resolution in Wikipedia, if it's only a discussion in which the other user treats the singer badly and you like Keane. I know it is something that may bother you very much and maybe you're right too... But, if the other person is also making attacks against you and/or tendenciously editing the page against Chaplin, then it can be treated as a personal attack & POV pushing case. Please, clarify whether case is yours so we can help you. --Neigel von Teighen 22:19, 24 October 2006 (UTC)[reply]
