Count of Paço de Arcos

Hi there. I noticed you removed my WP:PROD tag on Count of Paço de Arcos. Ordinarily I'd say you're right and that I shouldn't have been so hasty to suggest autodeletion. But in this case, I was unable to find any publicly verifiable sources for the article. I also have concerns that the article may not be about a notable subject. Lots of people have served in the military, but the stub makes no claim as to why this title of nobility is particularly special. Per these concerns I have moved the discussion to AfD. Please feel free to participate in the discussion, especially if you feel the article should not be deleted. Thanks! Mww113 (talk) 16:05, 23 September 2015 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Thanks for creating Fort of Pessegueiro, Zeorymer!

I enjoyed your new article on the fort. One, slight thing: perhaps we could find a few extra refs, but other than that, it is looking really nice!

February 2016

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give Museu Calouste Gulbenkian a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into another page with a different name. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. Also, if there are any other pages that you moved by copying and pasting, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Requests for history merge. Thank you. — Diannaa (talk) 16:12, 15 February 2016 (UTC)

"idiom" ≠ "idioma"

Hi, Zeorymer. I just noticed that in the discussion of Portuguese heraldry on the WikiProject Portugal talk page, you wrote

This obviously makes it harder for translations to other idioms.

That could be a bit confusing. This is a "false friend" problem for Spanish-speakers using English, and possibly for Portuguese-speakers as well. (Whoops! I just saw that you're a native speaker of English. Umm....)

In English, while "idiom" can mean the same as es."idioma", that usage is infrequent and perhaps a bit archaic. "Idiom" almost always means

a group of words established by usage as having a meaning not deducible from those of the individual words (e.g., rain cats and dogs, see the light).
(Google Translate)

= es (but not pt!) "idiotismo", pt "maneira de dizer"

Invitation from Wikimedia Portugal

(English below)

Agradecemos desde já!

Hi! Wikimedia Portugal is the Portuguese chapter of Wikimedia, founded in 2009 and recognized by the Wikimedia Foundation. Our mission is to contribute to the general dissemination of knowledge and culture through the incentive to the collection and creation of content without restrictions on use, modification and distribution, and promote their difusion; we promote and support the Wikimedia Foundation projects, among which Wikipedia, with emphasis on projects in Portuguese and Mirandese.

We would like however to count on the support of (and in turn ourselves support) all volunteers that are citizens, resident, or simply interested in Portugal. Despite being founded in 2009, the chapter has gone through a long period of inactivity that we are trying to overcome. We have sent you this message to invite you, if you are interested, to enroll as associate to the chapter, demonstrate your support to the existence of a chapter in Portugal, and get involved in the discussion of future activities by registering in the mailing list. Recentely, the Wikimedia Affiliations Committee suspended support to Wikimedia Portugal pending, among other things, the support from the community of portuguese editors.
