Thank you so much for the advice. A word in your shell-like: if I could get ReFill to load properly, I would've done it myself at the time. Ta. Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi 19:14, 19 May 2016 (UTC)

On edit: apologies if that sounded a trifle brusque, I just like to upload new articles fully-rounded, if you know what I mean, and a soft-ware glitch is irritating. Actually, I wonder if ReFill just doesn't always like articles that are only minutes old (not been cached, maybe?). Cheers, Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi 19:36, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
No offence taken there, I was just patrolling the news page feed with wild abandon. Clearly I was being too efficient eh. Zakhx150 (talk) 19:42, 19 May 2016 (UTC)
Absolutely. Could you please reign in your enthusiam and become a slacker like the rest of us; it's embarassing   on a serious note, I've left a query on the ReFill TP to try and establish the issue. Take care! Fortuna Imperatrix Mundi 19:48, 19 May 2016 (UTC)

Please take a few minutes and complete this survey to help us better understand community and staff expectations for the Wikimedia Foundation Executive Director.

Invite to the African Destubathon

Hi. You may be interested in participating in the African Destubathon which starts on October 15. Africa currently has over 37,000 stubs and badly needs a quality improvement editathon/contest to flesh out basic stubs. There are proposed substantial prizes to give to editors who do the most geography, wildlife and women articles, and planned smaller prizes for doing to most destubs for each of the 55 African countries, so should be enjoyable! Even if contests aren't your thing we would be grateful if you could consider destubbing a few African wildlife articles during the drive to help the cause and help reduce the massive 37,000 + stub count, of which many are rated high importance. If you're interested in competing or just loosely contributing any article related to a topic you often work on, please add your name to the Contestants/participants section. Might be a good way to work on fleshing out articles you've long been meaning to target and get rewarded for it! Diversity of work from a lot of people will make this that bit more special. Thanks. --Ser Amantio di NicolaoChe dicono a Signa?Lo dicono a Signa. 04:58, 13 October 2016 (UTC)

Autopatrolled

Hi Zakhx150, I just wanted to let you know that I have added the "autopatrolled" permission to your account, as you have created numerous, valid articles. This feature will have no effect on your editing, and is simply intended to reduce the workload on new page patrollers. For more information on the patroller right, see Wikipedia:Autopatrolled. Feel free to leave me a message if you have any questions. Happy editing! Fabrictramp | talk to me 23:05, 24 January 2017 (UTC)

Beetle GAN

I've come to a full stop on Beetle, so I've nominated it. I'd be really pleased if you felt like helping me shepherd it through GAN - just let me know if you want to be co-nominated. In the meantime, thanks for all your inputs, very useful. Chiswick Chap (talk) 14:13, 14 February 2017 (UTC)

@Chiswick Chap: Well its been a pleasure. I'm an utter newbie as far as the nomination process goes so happy to be involved if I can be useful or watch with interest from afar. Some reading on the 'what happens now' bit wouldn't go amiss on my end. Zakhx150 (talk) 14:18, 14 February 2017 (UTC)
OK, I'll attach you as co-nom. When someone decides to take on the review, they make comments which we have to fix. We'll share them out amongst ourselves. That's pretty much it! Chiswick Chap (talk) 14:22, 14 February 2017 (UTC)
@Chiswick Chap: Fair enough, go for it. In the meantime I'll arm myself with some more knowledge. Onwards and upwards.Zakhx150 (talk) 14:24, 14 February 2017 (UTC)

Parentheses and beetle species

I was just going to mention this on the tansy beetle talk page, but I see you've created a few more articles on beetles. The presence or absence of parentheses around a species authority is important. When parentheses are present, it indicates that the species was originally described in a different genus and later moved to a new genus. When parentheses are absent, it means the species is still in the original genus (or the original genus is being listed as a synonym). The tansy beetle was first described as Chrysomela graminis Linnaeus, 1758 and later became Chrysolina graminis (Linnaeus, 1758). Generally you should be OK, just following use of parentheses in the sources.

Unfortunately the paper by Bieńkowski you've got in Chyrsolina virgata uses a confusing system of short hand that involves always using parentheses when it lists synonyms (and this book uses a similar system of short hand for synonyms except it never uses parentheses). Unfortunately, with the short hand system, it is difficult to know exactly what should be written out in a longer form, and whether or not parentheses should be used. Short hand entries might have been described as subspecies or in a different genus. I'm not sure there's much you can do about it other than trying to find sources that don't list the synonyms in short hand. Plantdrew (talk) 21:45, 17 February 2017 (UTC)

Hmmm, tricksy. Well thanks for pointing that out, I'll bear that useful nugget in mind. Appreciate the edits to the article clarifying some of the issues you mentioned.Zakhx150 (talk) 09:29, 18 February 2017 (UTC)

New Page Reviewer granted

Hello Zakhx150. Your account has been added to the "New page reviewers" user group, allowing you to review new pages and mark them as patrolled, tag them for maintenance issues, or in some cases, tag them for deletion. The list of articles awaiting review is located at the New Pages Feed. New page reviewing is a vital function for policing the quality of the encylopedia, if you have not already done so, you must read the new tutorial at New Pages Review, the linked guides and essays, and fully understand the various deletion criteria. If you need more help or wish to discuss the process, please join or start a thread at page reviewer talk.

  • URGENT: Please consider helping get the huge backlog (around 15,000 pages) down to a manageable number of pages as soon as possible.
  • Be nice to new users - they are often not aware of doing anything wrong.
  • You will frequently be asked by users to explain why their page is being deleted - be formal and polite in your approach to them too, even if they are not.
  • Don't review a page if you are not sure what to do. Just leave it for another reviewer.
  • Remember that quality is quintessential to good patrolling. Take your time to patrol each article, there is no rush. Use the message feature and offer basic advice.

The reviewer right does not change your status or how you can edit articles. If you no longer want this user right, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. In case of abuse or persistent inaccuracy of reviewing, the right can be revoked at any time by an administrator. Coffee // have a cup // beans // 10:43, 1 March 2017 (UTC)

Beetle GAN

Hi, the Beetle GAN is now under way at Talk:Beetle/GA2. I suspect there will be a lot of changes, hopefully mostly small. Your help will be appreciated since you're co-nom! All the best, Chiswick Chap (talk) 09:07, 14 March 2017 (UTC)

Thanks for inputs... now there's "* Adaptations to harsh environmental conditions - migration, hibernation, aestivation" which you might like? Would fit well in Beetle#Tolerance of extreme environments. I'm off down my nature reserve to do some practical conservation! Chiswick Chap (talk) 09:21, 16 March 2017 (UTC)

Allama Ghazanfar Abbas Toosi

Why are you delete my wiki page Hasanmizaj (talk) 14:06, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

Why your page has been deleted

Hasanmizaj your page 'Allama Ghazanfar Abbas Toosi' was flagged for deletion in May 2016 because it did not meet Wikipedias criteria for inclusion. As was explained on your talk page at the time it qualified for deletion under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant. Wikipedia can only include articles that are verifiable and indicate their importance.

Please note that a version of your page 'Allama Ghazanfar Abbas Toosi' appears to now have been deleted four times:

  • 23 March 2017
  • 22 March 2017
  • 20 March 2017
  • 18 May 2016

This suggests to me that you have not learned from the mistake. I, personally, have only flagged the first version of this in 2016. Other users have also been involved in flagging your page as having issues and in deleting it. I do not have the power to delete articles, only to show the issues to others.

If you remake this page again, without making the proper changes inline with Wikipedia's Manual of Style and, importantly, its Guidelines for notability the page will keep getting deleted. Zakhx150 (talk) 15:49, 23 March 2017 (UTC)

Disambiguation link notification for May 2

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Anne Pippin Burnett, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page BA. New Page Review - Newsletter No.4

Hello Zakhx150,

Since rolling out the right in November, just 6 months ago, we now have 814 reviewers, but the backlog is still mysteriously growing fast. If every reviewer did just 55 reviews, the 22,000 backlog would be gone, in a flash, schwoop, just like that!

But do remember: Rather than speed, quality and depth of patrolling and the use of correct CSD criteria are essential to good reviewing. Do not over-tag. Make use of the message feature to let the creator know about your maintenance tags. See the tutorial again HERE. Get help HERE.

Stay up to date with recent new page developments and have your say, read THIS PAGE.

About Baekjoon OJ

You've recently deleted my Baekjoon OJ page. I want to revive this page. You thought it was promotional, and I agree in some points. I hope to edit the previous page and make it better, but I don't know how to access to the previous page or text. Is there any way I can access to my previous page? Please help me. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Enusu (talkcontribs) 15:13, 29 May 2017 (UTC)

  • @Enusu: Hi. I didn't delete the article, I flagged it for others who can delete them. Unfortunately, to my knowledge, the short answer is no you can't access that page once it has been deleted. You'll have to start again and make sure that the language uses the Manual of style and that it is correctly referenced to reliable secondary sources. Zakhx150 (talk) 08:49, 30 May 2017 (UTC)
