Categories

Promise Keepers category

Hi there! Can you elaborate on this edit? The Assemblies of God article doesn't mention "Promise Keepers" and the Promise Keepers doesn't mention "Assemblies of God". If there's a connection can you add something to one of the articles? --Stormie 02:14, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

Companies

Is there some sort of discussion on where it was decided to move everthing in the Portland area to the "companies based in Portland metro area"? One, it needs to be renamed as there is more than one Portland (that's why its Companies based in Portland, Oregon), and second we just moved away from a similar situation as editors had a tendincy to throw any business within 200 miles of Portland into the category, since the metro area tends to be an arbitrary and variable area (add changed frequently as Salem used to be part of it and Yamhill County did not). Royal Caribbean International link suggestion.

I got a response back from one editor of the page, who thought adding my site might have merit. He suggested asking other page editors to consider the site and see if a link can/should be added. I'm noticing that there is already a link to a site described as an "independent" resource on RCI, and with due respect to that sites owner, it is a fraction of the resource and project I am working on myself. The community is growing in activity, provides information not seen elsewhere on the internet. Not that it is the intent of Wikipedia to become a large-scale links page, but I would argue RoyalCaribbeanFan.com warrants a link given established standards already on display.

The specific site link is www.RoyalCaribbeanFan.com.

A good example of why this is important would be your recent edit to Griffin Technology. You removed Category:Companies based in Tennessee[1] (I'm assuming because it was redundant to Category:Companies based in Nashville), but because you didn't use an edit summary, another edit was confused as to why and reverted you.[2]

There's a way of making sure you always use an edit summary. Go to Special:Preferences, and click on the "Editing" tab. The last option is "Prompt me when entering a blank edit summary", which if checked, will prevent you from leaving blank edit summaries. EVula // talk // ☯ // 19:51, 3 December 2007 (UTC)

New Project

Myself and several other editors have been compiling a list of very active editors who would likely be available to help new editors in the event they have questions or concerns. As the list grew and the table became more detailed, it was determined that the best way to complete the table was to ask each potential candidate to fill in their own information, if they so desire. This list is sorted geographically in order to provide a better estimate as to whether the listed editor is likely to be active.

If you consider yourself a very active Wikipedian who is willing to help newcomers, please either complete your information in the table or add your entry. "Economy of (city)" categories

I second the above. You often add multiple categories for "Economy of ..." to individual company articles. A company is properly listed under the category "Companies based in (City, State)." Excess and inappropriate categorization make wikipedia less relevant and harder to navigate.

Lewisville Independent School District

more on Las Vegas hospitals

Maybe it is best if there were no categories in the template? When the template was started, the articles had no categories and it only had a few articles. As hospitals have been added and it now covers, Henderson, LV, the county and NLV maybe it is time to simply remove all of the categories. I'll do that. McGhee Tyson Airport

I reverted your deletion of Category:Knoxville, Tennessee in article McGhee Tyson Airport. It is not actually located in Knoxville, but it is Knoxville's principal airport and is mentioned more than once in article Knoxville, Tennessee. Category: Towers in Alabama

I have removed your placement of Garywood Assembly of God from Category:Towers in Alabama. As a member of the church, I do not feel that the "tower" on the front of the building really qualifies as a tower in the true sense of the word. Good job on the categories. We actually need a lot of expansion and work on Category:Hawaii, so if you keep the lines of communication open, I'm hoping we can work together to achieve the same goals. I'm not sure I understand why you are dropping the towns, for example in Category:Maui when they are already tagged as part of the county. Could you explain? Towns are already categorized in the county cats under Category:Geography of Maui. We don't need the duplication in the parent cat, so please stop for now. They are already in the Maui category under Category:Geography of Maui. Please stop duplicating the categories under the parent. The parent category, Category:Maui should be empty except for articles that need categories or higher (top) level articles. This is why I've asked you to join WikiProject Hawaii and discuss what you want to do with the project. If you talked about this first, you would know this. The project has a lot of categorization tasks that need work, so we would welcome your help, but what you are doing is not helping. If you want to help categorize Maui articles, the first thing you can do is find Maui articles that do not have a Maui category and add them to Category:Maui. That's one thing you can do. Then, they can be moved to subcats in most instances. But, duplicating categories is not helping, as I'm just going to remove all the categories you have added. RTD Line template

I admire how much effort you have put in to add all of the crossings to the Template:RTD B Line, Template:RTD G Line, and Template:RTD N Line pages, but I think it looks really cluttered now. Before it was simple to see which stations came in which order, but now you have to look through a bunch of other stuff. Some of the other line templates, i.e. Template:RTD C Line and Template:RTD D Line etc, only include the major highways that the route crosses. I think this leads to a cleaner look while still including some orienting landmarks. I would propose we do the same with the B, G, and N Line templates as well. Is this agreeable to you? 29th & Welton

Hi, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you tried to give 29th & Welton (RTD) a different title by copying its content and pasting either the same content, or an edited version of it, into 29th & Welton Station. This is known as a "cut-and-paste move", and it is undesirable because it splits the page history, which is legally required for attribution. Instead, the software used by Wikipedia has a feature that allows pages to be moved to a new title together with their edit history.

In most cases, once your account is four days old and has ten edits, you should be able to move an article yourself using the "Move" tab at the top of the page (the tab may be hidden in a dropdown menu for you). This both preserves the page history intact and automatically creates a redirect from the old title to the new. If you cannot perform a particular page move yourself this way (e.g. because a page already exists at the target title), please follow the instructions at requested moves to have it moved by someone else. …the Scum/SOTEC article. It has undergone a major update. Remember, the goal is accurate to sources, and so we can only improve it to the extent that sources give us material. As a Denver native/ex-pat, you may know of sources that can be used to improve the article. (And perhaps can source the Lincoln Park statement.)

We have the Merritt article at RNS in 2014, another stray one or two similarly recent (but with limited content), then we are back at 2011 and earlier. Point is, we do not have (i) a well-sourced recent history of church changes and direction, (ii) a thorough history of church leadership at the various sites. (As well, the Co. Springs church is discrepantly presented either as unaffiliated or as a sister church in different references.)

Point is, I have done almost as much as I can, given the sources and what I know. Someone who knows and cares about the old sources needs to weigh in, as does someone with more recent sourcing. Note, I am aware that some awkwardnesses are still in place (e.g., the Leadership section, separated because so spotty in source and fact, and the chronologic Further reading).
