March 2008 edit

Hello, and thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia! I noticed that you recently added commentary to an article, University of Hong Kong. While Wikipedia welcomes editors' opinions on an article and how it could be changed, these comments are more appropriate for the article's accompanying talk page. If you post your comments there, other editors working on the same article will notice and respond to them and your comments will not disrupt the flow of the article. Thank you. Do not place your signature in any article. - Jameson L. Tai talkcontribs 06:22, 21 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

Hong Kong U Study Abroad section edit

This is the original Study Abroad section you were working on. Unfortunately, this section is disproportionally longer than any other section in the article. Since HKU's Study Abroad program is not the focus of this article, I will be scaling back, summarizing, and removing some of the extraneous parts in order to conform to existing Wikipedia policies and guidelines.

In [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007 2007], the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Times_Higher_Education_Supplement Times Higher Education Supplement] ranked the University of Hong Kong as the 18th best university in the world. Student welfare is served by several units, including the Centre of Development and Resources for Students (CEDARS), which provides guidance for most areas of student life; and [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uniformed_Services_University_of_the_Health_Sciences University Health Service], which provides health care, referrals and preventive services. This student run organization offers more than 100 clubs and associations catering to the diverse interest of the student population.

Study abroad students will be assigned to a local student who they can correspond with prior to departure for Hong Kong. A buddy would meet you upon arrival at the airport, assist you with settling into student residence and offer advice and support to you during your stay.<ref> Asia Learn University of Hong Kong http://www.asialearn.org/Universities/UnivHongKong.htm </ref>

Students can come study abroad at HKU in two ways; if you have an exchange agreement between your university and HKU where you apply as an Exchange student you will usually continue to pay home tuition with no additonal tuition fees for HKU OR if not, you many apply as a [http://www.hku.hk/admission/visiting.htm Visiting Student] and have to pay overseas tuition fees to HKU.
