By having only a single line and then an external link to the company's website, it qualified as advertising/spam. 1,000 acquisitions? Are you sure? Could you cite me to an authority for that? I'm the person who wrote in the "200 acquisitions" figure. I did so based on a statement on p. 72 of Roger Lowenstein's book, Origins of the Crash (2004). --Christofurio 00:27, Nov 27, 2004 (UTC) I see, i came accross that info today when i was reading "Crafting and Executing strategy 14th edition" by Arthur A. Thompson Jr. page 252. I also found it hard to believe, mainly because i feel books published by McGraw-Hill are terribly useless. I would however not object with reverting back to 200 companies, but be aware that someone felt that they have acquired 1000 companies and there may be truth in that. Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:

To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "{{DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual}}" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. News links edit

Hi Wk. I saw your external links on malaria and tuberculosis. There is a big problem with posting news articles links on Wikipedia. Often, the articles are inaccurate or poorly sourced. When it comes to medical articles, the news is often preceded by (or coincides with) a very similar report in the medical professional literature. For Wikipedia, I would be strongly in favour of citing these professional reports rather then newsworthy spinoffs. JFW | T@lk 20:46, 12 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Adding new definitions edit

I have dealt with your addition to shed by creating a disambiguation page. Normally I would have said that the 'casting off' definition is just a dictionary definition, and so is not strictly relevant to Wikipedia, and would be better suited to Wiktionary. DSL history - source? edit

You added the following paragraph to the DSL page. It makes some claims that I haven't heard elsewhere. Could you add some sources for it(news reports, historical studies, etc.)? It's good writing, and interesting, but it needs to be sourced.

The paragraph: "Its origin dates back to 1988, when an engineer at Bell research lab deviced a way to carry digital signal over the unused frequency spectrum. This allows ordinary phone line to provide digital communication without blocking access to voice services. Bells management however were not enthusiastic about it as it was not as profitable as renting out a second line for those consumers who prefered to still have acess to the phone when dialing out. This however changed in the late 90s when cable companies started marketing broadband internet access.
