Preity Zinta FA

Hi there. The Preity Zinta article has recently achieved A-class status. Due to the wealth of support I have decided to now nominate for an FA class article which I believe and judging by the comments of others is pretty much up to. In my view it is better than some existing FA actor articles. I would therefore be very grateful if you could give it a final review in your own time and leave your comments and views at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Preity Zinta. Thankyou, your comments are always valuable. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 10:57, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Our Burmese film guy has continued with some new articles today. E.g Khin Yu May. Thanks for making the icon, its more developed than it was anyway see List of Burmese actors. He's gonna need some watching over though as his english is not exactly advanced ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 20:31, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Hopefully we can begin building them like Win Oo. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 20:36, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Thats odd it sounds like you have hard drive trouble or something. DO you have a broadband connection? Occasionally my computer takes minutes to load images on pages specifically on the wiki sites - I never know why either. I haven't been doing much work on south-east asian films this week but I began developed Hong Kong films of the 1950s and Hong Kong films of the 1970s. I love the character of HK cinema and we have a tremendous amount of articles missing on some really great films. In fact I've ordered several HK dvds for Christmas from the 1970s. Hope all is well - that FA nomination is a nightmare -we have about 23 supports so far but a lot of serious criticism by a handful of editors who strongly oppose - memories of the Casino Ropyale nom. are drifting back.... Yawn yawn. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 21:15, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm not certain about the naming convention though for Chinese people. WHich is correct? Yueh Feng or Feng Yueh? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 21:21, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Yes computers can be a nuisance -I believe this is why Hoverfish went into retirement. Well I am setting out the foundation of Hong Kong cinema by year first we'll have hundreds of red links but the foundation will be there to build to full extent of the cinema. Getting the titles onto wikipedia will be the first goal and surprise - yes most seem to be Shaw Studios film in the 1970s. I have to say out of the many films I've seen some of the Shaw films from the 70s and 80s are the coolest I've ever seen! You're always welcome to help fill in a few red links when you aren't so tied. Hopefully that taskforce will be up and running soon enough too. Regards ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 21:43, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Aside from filling in the American lists gradually my main areas of concentration now in terms of creating articles are on Eastern Asian and Indian cinema and Latin cinema where I feel needs the most work. Particularly the Phillipines and Hong Kong by sheer missing content. We'll get there some day. What I'd like to see happen is if we were allowed a trailer video clip for each film in the article. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 21:49, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Any idea if ther eis a film festival logo rationale to copy for Image:BelizeFilmFestival.gif? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 11:10, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Cheers buddy. yeah i'd go with List of film festivals in Latin America - less of a mouthful and covers most that you highlighted. Belize I think is classified as Central American which falls under Latin. From 1950 onwards I'm going to split the Hong Kong films by year as there are nearly 100 films for some of the years. I started Brothers Five earlier - some of these films should have long detailed articles by now not have been missing! All the best ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 11:52, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

Have you see Duel of Fists? It was set in Bangkok. Shouldn't it go under Films shot on location in Thailand or something? My aim is to get all of the films onto here and at the very least have them all at this sort of standard with a decent plot section -hopefully the HK and Chinese cinema projects can chip in. I've found a vast gaping hole here. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 12:25, 5 November 2007 (UTC) Ahhh I thought the article seemed good and seemed to have something familiar about it. That was why!!! Nice job. LOL! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 12:36, 5 November 2007 (UTC)

HI Wise , what made you think it was anything to do with the polbot images? Sure it does my head in but that was far from what my reasons were. There is just a major problem with how things run around here and based on the decisions of one or two - you know this from before when many film related articles have been deleted by one or two without telling anybody. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 11:58, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

OK great. Yes I won't go into what happened, but all I can say is that it made me have serious doubts about how major decisions are made around here and how they can be often based on POV. Nasty business which is why I baled out of it. I reached 1981 now anyway with the HK films - I aim to start all the pages by the end of today -they can be completed later. Can you believe some user suggested moving the lists to the commons!! as apparently there is some law that every page of wikipedia must be a full written article and that no other form of conveying information such as film tables is "suitable". ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 16:12, 11 November 2007 (UTC)

Ah don't worry about it was just a friendly suggestion I think on a talk page rather than an AFD - nothing serious but an amusing one at that. There are thousands of wiki pages which are just lists of names let alone conveying information which I believe these film pages do. Regards ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 16:27, 11 November 2007 (UTC).

My o my even films like Aces Go Places IV - two line stub. I remember what a state Aces Go Places 2 was in -i had to completely start it again. You'd think there would be some people from Hong Kong on here to deal with these wouldn't ya ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 17:10, 11 November 2007 (UTC) Just wondering why the South Asian project thing is going so slow to set up. Hey we now have 52 members for WP:Actors. This should grow beyond 100 soon enough. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 19:27, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Ah its great stuff. I found a dvd of Armour of God from 1987 the other day - its so entertaining. Some of the fight scenes are unreal like double backflips off of falling dinner tables and flicking up an empty can and kicking in the attackers face stone cold. There is something about the Chinese that make me laugh anyway. There was a Chinese kid in school called Danny Yee, he was only about 5 ft 1 or 5'2' but he could do some of the most extreme flexes you'd ever think possible - I wouldn't be surprised if he was in a circus these days!! He was one of the funniest people I've ever met. I think he'd be great in Hong Kong films. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 20:14, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

So cool. There were so many relatively unknown Chinese/Hong Kong actors of earlier eras that could have made it as major international stars like if they only had the chance -some of their physical abilities in action scenes would made even Lundgren or Seagal look slow or weak. Some of the lesser known actors I have seen in some of the Shaw Studio films are just awesome. Lo Lieh was outstanding - he was one of them -they move like lightening. I 'm going to get a few dvds imported -Hong Kong always sell things cheaply anyway. Youtube also has lots of clips. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 20:25, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

I'm also going to see if I can get hold of a DVD of the Tears of the Black Tiger. The idea of an eastern asian "western" is intriguing and that article is so good it does a pretty damn good job of promoting the film. Are they paying ya? LOL ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 20:37, 12 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi wise. Our Burmese cinema friend emailed outside wikipedia -such as a surprise as he hasn't responded on here yet. He asked for some help with copy edits on longer plot sections . his work seems to be getting better, . In fact he has also put the first Burmese film onto wikiepdia Myitta Nit Athuyar. A few days ago I created a template like thailand for the film and actor lists ok? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 16:28, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

We now have 12 films already isn't this great news? I only started that category a week or two ago ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 16:29, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

Its finally happened!! See Style (2004 film). We now have the first decent article on a Burmese film. It seems there is increasingly more info becoming available every week on Burma ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 17:17, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

WOWWWO!! Your missing history being made here. Our Burmese friend is performing miracles. He has a scanner and is going to put images of Burmese people on the web!!! His articles are getting better -some of the actors now have images - I'm quite excited that it has become possible to get this onto here for the world to see!! If he could put info in books and newspapers onto here this would be a huge breakthrough don't you think? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 18:58, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Glad to hear from you. Yes he has just uploaded a set up early Burmese film processing images to the Cniema of Burma article ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 19:31, 16 November 2007 (UTC) I managed to crop Ba Swe earlier -nothing online except one image - I was told this is him ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 19:35, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

His english will improve and he has a surprising knowledge of how to use infoboxes and templates etc. We are there to help clean up any bad sentencing. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 19:37, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

This is what I mean see Image:Love&Liquor.jpg. The first Burmese film from 1920. There is nothing online like this at present ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 19:38, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

At present he seems to be uploading some online images. The thing is most info is in Burmese anyway and if you google image many of these names they wouldn't show up. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 19:45, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Could you see if you can dig up anything on Myanmar Motion Picture Organization. its supposed to be the official film organziation of Burma I think ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 20:08, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

I went for Myanmar Academy Awards first! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 21:14, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Ah, Our friend has encountered an afd for List of Myanmar film companies. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 12:03, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Wow I'm finding hard to keep up with him!! Feel free to help some time. It is exhausting! ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 21:15, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

We now have things like List of Myanmar Motion Picture Academy Awards if you are interested. I've been encouraging him -I see a lot of potential ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 21:16, 20 November 2007 (UTC)

Changing the names of film trilogies

Wisekwai...I replied to your topic Renaming of trilogies. I hope it explains my POV. - LA @ 13:42, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

PS. OMG! I totally forgot all about the "road movie" CFR. I may just be evil enough to list it again and see what happens the second/third time around. :) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lady Aleena (talkcontribs) 13:54, 1 November 2007 (UTC)
