Pleased to meet you. Be careful about editing with an IP that's not logged in. If someone thinks it's fishy that you're editing with an account name and with IPs, you can get in trouble. Cheers. signed, Willondon (talk) 03:09, 1 May 2023 (UTC)

Recent Broderick Smith edits

Thank you for your recent edits at this article. You rightly reverted edits which had no IRS for the changes. I'm proud of you!shaidar cuebiyar (talk) 18:00, 1 May 2023 (UTC)

I appreciate that. It's sometimes a hard slog because it's like a storm of vandalism from all sides, but it's just innocent editors not understanding the importance reliable sources in that situation (and not checking the revision history first). That's why when I revert, I do a Google search myself and leave the page open. Every time someone reports the death without a source, I refresh the Google page, hoping to find a reliable source to stop the madness! Cheers signed, Willondon (talk) 18:04, 1 May 2023 (UTC)

Death in custody

Jamal khashoggi was detained by officials. I understand that it's not a jail, but he was still detained. And it was the embassy. These were no ordinary criminals.49.178.163.220 (talk) 12:16, 2 May 2023 (UTC)

I assume reference to my edit here [1] regarding Jamal Khashoggi. From Wiktionary, I take the relevant definitions of custody to be: "1. The legal right to take care of something or somebody, especially children." and "3. The state of being imprisoned or detained, usually pending a trial." So my application to this case would be: (legal) arrest and detention is a form of "taking care", albeit in less than four-star accomodations. And #3 captures the sense in which we want to use it. To be kidnapped and murdered, it is necessary that one be detained; necessary to the point of "detained" being a meaningless part of the description. So I don't see that "in custody" applies here in any but the most tangential way.
Especially when I see that an article has more than 30 watchers (44 in this case), my general philosophy is to step back and let the community (including yourself, of course) decide. If you switch it back, I will take it that you've done so after considering my argument and exercising your judgement. Cheers. signed, Willondon (talk) 14:04, 2 May 2023 (UTC)

Gun Violence Prevention

Redirecting the Sandy Hook Promise page to a generic page about the shooting is vandalizing a valid page about a noteworthy organization. March for our lives page does not redirect to the Parkland shooting page, for example. Save the children does not redirect to child poverty. The article includes many verified independent sources from reliable media outlets. I am a concerned citizen and do not want to see a good organization get bullied off wikipedia when they merit encyclopedic inclusion. thank you Gvpgirl (talk) 20:58, 4 May 2023 (UTC)

Another editor helped me add the secondary sources and make update the article the right way instead of messing with the redirect. I thought you were one of those alex jones conspiracy troll people who was just ruining the page to be mean. sorry Gvpgirl (talk) 21:47, 4 May 2023 (UTC)

(I got caught in an edit conflict with your second post. Here's what I was going to say in response to the first.)
To assert that the article merits inclusion, you would create a draft (see Wikipedia:Drafts), then submit it for consideration. If it includes a number of independent and reliable sources, then it will surely pass muster. There are a number of other editors that can provide you valuable help in this effort. But I caution that waving words like "vandalism" and "bullied" will make it difficult for them to see you as a potentially cooperative member of the editing community that they might wish to help. Sincerely signed, Willondon (talk) 21:51, 4 May 2023 (UTC)
I'm glad you found that help. Best wishes on the new article. Cheers. signed, Willondon (talk) 21:51, 4 May 2023 (UTC)
You're the best! Here's the draft: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Sandy_Hook_Promise
And understood. The article was redirected initially by a user who was banned for being a sockpuppet and did alot of shady things on campaign related pages. So sorry i was a worried that was what was happening again. Gvpgirl (talk) 23:02, 4 May 2023 (UTC)

recent edit

would love to know why you deleted the edit on Brigham Young for “unsourced edit” when sources were obviously provided. TruthSekker (talk) 00:17, 21 May 2023 (UTC)

I didn't refer to any "unsourced edit"s. I assume you refer to my edit here [2], edit summary: ""It is important to note", introduces unsourced opinion". So I didn't say the facts were unsourced. To expand on my edit summary: after reading your edit summary [3], "Added context [...]", and seeing that the first words were "It is important to note", I judged it to be original research and commentary. That's why I reverted it. signed, Willondon (talk) 01:13, 21 May 2023 (UTC)

Stop editing hockey.

You obviously have no clue about hockey whatsoever. Stop editing it you are embarassing yourself. McBusterMcgee (talk) 21:00, 25 May 2023 (UTC)

I obviously don't know the same things about hockey as you do, such as:
  • [4] Frederik Andersen's name is really "Fraudrik"
  • [5] He plays the position of "fraud"
  • [6] He plays for the Kunlun Red Star
  • [7] And that his father is Matthew Tkachuk, who is probably about ten years younger than he is.
So it seems you might watch a lot of hockey, but you definitely need to pay more attention. Or maybe you're just a straight up vandal. And it's okay if you feel embarrassed now. Embarrassment is a healthy emotion to know how to feel. Those who don't learn this, usually feel society is against them, developing into unexpressed guilt and self-loathing, and hatred for others. Best of luck to you. signed, Willondon (talk) 22:01, 25 May 2023 (UTC)

Brattleboro Union High School

I saw you had reverted my edits on the Brattleboro Union High School Page. Sorry I was having a little fun with editing the article. I was just trying to prank my friends. John Mosher isn't the principal of the school and David Berkson-Harvey isn't the principal of BUHS either. They are both students at our school. Currently we only have an interim principal. Currently the interim principal is Cassie Damkoehler. Also, BUHS got rid of the team name Colonels, and our school voted to be the Bears, but the offical name change is still pending approval from the school board. Thanks. I will stop editing the article for fun. SouthernBilly79 (talk) 21:08, 5 June 2023 (UTC)

The Akhannouch removal was not unexplained

I already did the same last week and you put it back. Go see what i wrote that time. I SAID THAT'S THE KING who doesn that . He IS the dictator. NOT AN Elected Prime minister. What's wrong w /u? Luiz Ejlli Page

Stop with your biased and ignorant edits mate, you don't even know who Ejlli is and you keep doing stupid edits without having any information about the life and the activities of Luiz Ejlli. 185.237.17.29 (talk) 11:05, 12 June 2023 (UTC)

Referring perhaps to my edit here [10], edit summary: "unsourced additions"? I don't need to know anything about the subject to challenge unsourced additions. Your edit added descriptions "songwriter" (he did not write the song performed at Eurovision), "entrepreneur", "jurist", "attorney", "cooking chef", "ex-diplomat" (a stretch from his appointment as First Secretary for Culture, Tourism, and Arts in the Albanian Embassy in France). Apart from the appointment to the embassy, none of those things are supported by a reference.
Your edit also added "After some years of absence on the public scene of national artistic and social life in Albania he once again rose to prominence gaining popularity among the albanian audience and received massive attention following participating, starring, being the main protagonist and" (unsourced), "winning the second season of Big Brother VIP" (sourced). Sourcing is an essential part of Wikipedia. Personal knowledge is valuable only before determining noteworthy things to add and finding a reliable source to support them. Once the edit hits the page, Wikipedia goes from relying on contributors' personal knowledge to relying on the sources. signed, Willondon (talk) 14:09, 12 June 2023 (UTC)

Weir Wood Reservoir

Hello, I noticed you reverted my edits on the Weir Wood Reservoir page. Weir Wood Sport and Leisure is an entity that now controls use of the land side of the site, various water sports and activities on and off the water. C3rased (talk) 20:04, 15 July 2023 (UTC)

I didn't see any contributions under your username, so I'm assuming you refer to these four edits [11] from IP 86.26.10.65. The main objection is that you haven't provided a reliable secondary source for the information. There are a few other problems: (1) from WP:EL, "With rare exceptions, external links should not be used in the body of an article."; (2) from WP:PROMO, Wikipedia is not meant to host promotional content or links. I also considered removing "Weir Wood is also home to a sailing club and a fishing lodge.", as it is unsourced. It's important to remember that Wikipedia relies on secondary sources, not only to verify that something is true, but that the fact is notable, that a source removed from the subject has taken note and commented on it. signed, Willondon (talk) 21:27, 15 July 2023 (UTC)

Sourced information for corn burrito page

How can one source the information that you removed besides family and friends that grew up eating the corn burritos during those years? I can't include quotes to named people because how could you verify each of those sources. Families that had school children attending EP Foster during those years could testify as could people living on the Avenue. As far as carrying on the tradition of National Corn Burrito Day, why did you remove that information? If you could please contact me with your answers, I would appreciate it. "how could you verify each of those sources" is at the heart of the problem. A cornerstone of Wikipedia is verifiability. That's why it relies on reliable sources, preferably secondary sources. Secondary sources help with verification, but they also help establish notability, in that a source removed from the subject has taken note and commented on it. signed, Willondon (talk) 15:11, 16 July 2023 (UTC)

Just curious...

Why did you revert this edit? Your edit summary even says, "restoring vandalism"... Maybe I'm missing something? :-) ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 00:12, 21 July 2023 (UTC)

My general approach in curating my talk page is to preserve the record, warts and all. Overall, I agree with your initial revert, which is why I removed again the block template that was used without authorization. I've noticed your good work as admin, diligent and thoughtful. Know that I'm not the only one that appreciates it. Thank you. signed, Willondon (talk) 13:30, 21 July 2023 (UTC)

Issues

Hello WillLondon, not too long ago a large contribution was made to the Quebec biker war article. This was removed by you which I agree with, as you said in your statement is large, but contains good references and information. I attempted to alter it so that it wasn't slandering Langton as much. But it was removed by a editor that I had constant issues with. Also added several crimes that the resurrected Rock Machine had committed since the end of the Quebec biker war in Quebec, they were all probably referenced and all that information was removed. I just want this all to end, even though I entered that stuff with proper referencing and there was tons of legitimate information. It was removed by the editor due to a personal feud they did not even look at the references, and removed edits of other users who had... But didn't remove it. Anyways this is very stressful because what is written at the end of the article does not at all depict the reality the events that transpired. The ending basically says "the Hell's Angels are God and no one else ever recovered or tried to they're all fake now" I'm not arguing with the fact that the Hell's Angels are the top dog in Canada but these other groups have certainly made massive efforts to recover and in the Rock machines case they have spread around the world. The editor that I have issues with for some reason does not want that to me mentioned in the article they want it to be an absolute victory for the Hell's Angels. Regardless I am not asking you to take any action on my behalf. But I do ask you when you have the time to look at it like you said on the Quebec biker talk page. It's just something that should be solved in overall the article does not depict the reality of the current situation. Really don't mind Langton and I use his sources frequently and it's the same thing with all of these guys some of them make mistakes the reason why I don't agree with Langton on this subject is because there are several factors that state otherwise. I agree with Langton on many other subjects though, and that's because there is tons of other sources to support it. Anyways I apologize for rambling on but this is just bothersome I want to stop causing issues on here but it bothers me every time I think about it. History just isn't properly recorded, I had slip-ups in the past, I got in trouble for copy editing one day because I was trying to catch up on all the work I had to do, didn't know the rules about sock puppet s*** before I knew it I was perma-banned. As the user said on the talk page I should just appeal the ban, but knowing how this website is they would never forgive me, before I knew it I was in trouble I couldn't get out of because I tried to stop destructive edits as a sock puppet. Every editor has issues from time to time. But I'm the only one who even cares about fixing the mistake or trying to make sure the page depicts the actual realities. There is no need to reply just sending my thoughts 2605:8D80:6E2:4A3B:967D:E6DB:5793:C1B (talk) 00:43, 25 July 2023 (UTC)

A lot to digest, and I remember a lot of activity on that article around the time in question. I will commit to reviewing everything over the next few days. And I will ping your IP when I respond (as I understand it, unregistered editors cannot maintain watchlists). Thanks for your efforts and your input. signed, Willondon (talk) 01:13, 25 July 2023 (UTC)

Willondon, I truly do apologize I know it has been quite a conundrum overall. I encourage you to just use my references, that's all, I know you will write things in your own words if you see them as legitimate. That is fine by me as I just want the information to be properly conveyed. Lot of references I got directly myself but some were already on the page previously. It's important to talk about all points of view whether it's Alex Cain or Langton. And I really appreciate your understanding. There is no rush thought just as long as someone takes a legit look. For example, cuz of one reference that this editor prefers states that Salvatore Cazzetta was arrested for 200 kg. In most books that I've read and in several references available it states 11 tons.. I have only ever seen this one reference about 200.[1] Cite error: A <ref> tag is missing the closing </ref> (see the help page). [2]
