Template question edit

Hi! You know, that's a good question. I've never edited a template, so I really can't help you. I do have to say that I appreciate your turning to me for help. Please don't hesitate to stop by again. - Lucky 6.9 21:30, 21 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Question edit

Hi, I somehow got a message from you telling me not to put incorrect information into articles; What article are you referring to? All of the information I post is true to the best of my ability and I stand by it. (anon message left by user:24.159.43.112)

Okay, that's alright. I got the second message, and don't worry about it. We all make mistakes. :) (anon message left by user:24.159.43.112)

Userpage reversions edit

Heh. Tanx...yeah, I did actually describe myself as a fag intentionally.

What's kind of interesting, though, is that the first change you reverted (where two of the wikilinks on my page were changed to Shakira and Shakura S'Aida) ties directly into an ongoing slice of weirdness at Black Canadian, where Shakira got added to the list of famous black Canadians more than once even though she's neither. (I added Shakura S'Aida, who is a black Canadian jazz singer, on the assumption that the user just got them confused...but then he's reverted it more than once.) So obviously somebody's either a clueless twit, or intent on vandalizing Black Canadian for really obscure reasons. Bearcat 22:45, 26 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

User page vandalism edit

Well, congratulations (I think). Just hope you don't attract as much anonymous vandalism as my user page, it gets annoying after awhile. And sure, I'm fine with others using the vandalism tag :). Happy editing! Nufy8 23:27, 27 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

hi edit

yes I was in the process of doing that. One thing, however. Are you familiar with the distinction between "pages for deletion" and "votes for deletion?" What is going on there?TheDeletator 04:52, 28 August 2005 (UTC)Reply

Vandalism, Template edit

Hey, thanks for the suggestion regarding vandalism. I generally just follow a vandal until they cease vandalising, most don't do it for more than a short while, but if it ever becomes necessary I'll use one of those templates on their talk page, or take some sort of action myself.

Also regarding your Template:Vandal tags, I'd suggest posting it on people's talk pages with {{subst:Vandal tags}} so that users can click the edit on the template message without accidentally editing the template (which I almost did hehe). Also its a good idea to use subst on talk pages in general to reduce server load, and also to preserve discussion history more smoothly (:

Imdaking question edit

I have a feeling that this user may be taking an unscheduled, edit-free permanent leave before too long. Frankly, I've never run into a problem quite like this guy's "stay off my talk page" talk page. If he keeps this up, it's a sure bet. The ArbCom is going to get a kick out of this page.  :) Wish I could be of more help. - Lucky 6.9 20:32, 12 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Imdaking's "complaint" page edit

Hi, Wikipedianinthehouse (and hello there, Lucky, edit conflict!), I noticed your question on Lucky's page. The reason Imdaking's "complaint" page is locked from editing is that he used the page to taunt and insult people who posted on it. One user who'd been attacked on it asked to have it cleaned up and locked, so I did those things. I'm sorry you can't post on it now, but, well, Imdaking shouldn't be directing people away from his regular talkpage anyway. People have a right to post any civil messages on that, including criticisms, in case they need to make him aware of some mistake he made. I'm sorry if you feel that you have nowhere to leave messages for him now, but I don't quite understand it, since it's quite a while since he deleted anything from his Talk. He hasn't edited it for four days, as far as I can see. Please feel free to get in touch with me if you experience any problems in communicating with him. I can't do much about it if he chooses to delete posts on his page, though--doing that is certainly bad wikiquette, but there's debate about whether it's actually against the rules. In a way it's not all bad, either: if a person deletes a message from you, at least it proves s/he's seen it! Bishonen | talk 20:38, 12 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Wiki rules edit

Hi, I noticed your messages to Imdaking about blanking his talk page. I'm trying to understand procedure myself, actually. I noticed you say you haven't been editing that long, and I don't see you on any list of administrators, but maybe you can still answer my question:

My undertanding is that we can -- and should -- quickly remove vandalsim, harrassment, and disputes, etc. Leaving them to hang around, or worse, spreading them to other pages, is a bad idea. Also, in my case, I keep an archive where I quickly place stale conversations, and issues that have been resolved. I clearly tell people on my talk page that I tend to archive quickly, so they know they can check that page.

My feeling is that few people are interested in reading meaningless threads and fragments. Per your understanding of the rules, is that acceptable?

Now, in Imdaking's case, I can understand why he shouldn't be blanking pages. His use of a complaint page is just bizzare, just another attempt to intimidate people, so if they do complain, he can say "you broke the rules on my page." Purely sociopathic, as far as I'm concerned.

I think he has been around here far longer than he says he has. No one with such a poor writing ability could also be that fluent in the rules. He's gaming the system. In my first encounter with him, his ID was very new, but he was already sockpuppeting, then leaving anonymous messages on my talk page "warning" me about vandalism in very official-sounding language. He knows what he's doing. paul klenk 21:30, 12 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

To:WPITH edit

The reason you thought I was blanking my complaint talk pages was because they where being posted in the complaint page itself, not its talk page. So what you though was a blanking, really wasnt, I was moving them to its talk page. That's why its says on the front "dont post messages on this page". Thats when User:BlankVerse to me, the link to post a message, took you there. So now I changed the link.

Paul is a straight out liar, I started here on august 2005, maybe a week earlier, when I had no log in name. Also, he might think of my writing has "Poor ability" but at least I contribute to things that people are interested in, not, Holloween parades or mathematicians who are dead and long gone. "Which makes me laugh with a high silly voice"--Paul Klenk.

Just my two cents....::Imdaking::. Bow | Down! 19:28, 13 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

Please do not engage edit

Not sure how you got involved with the page-blanker, but I trust you are not going to fall for the explanations he is offering. It is clearly a ploy. I have tried to talk sense into him privately. One of the terms he agreed to for this private communication was to stop escalating and stop the denials. It is clear he has broken that agreement.

Please do not engage him; I will attempt to not engage him as well. A personal attack such as he has just placed on your page cannot be tolerated, but I want him to calm down and go about his time at WP undoing damage he has done, not fueling the fire. Let's give him this chance to do it. Thanks. paul klenk 20:04, 13 September 2005 (UTC)Reply

WikiProject NASCAR proposed standards edit

WikiProject NASCAR needs your help! We are in the process of forming our proposed standards which, when complete, will hopefully become a Wikipedia guideline. The guidelines will help editors understand Wikipedia consensus about things like which NASCAR-related articles meet notability standards. Please stop by and let us know what you think! File permission problem with File:Revco2.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading File:Revco2.jpg, which you've attributed to Mark Fontana[who?]. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too.
