February 2011 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Using different styles throughout the encyclopedia, as you did in List of tallest buildings in Toronto, makes it harder to read. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Johnny Au (talk/contributions) 01:18, 16 February 2011 (UTC)Reply

April 2011 edit

Hello. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, such as on Talk:List of tallest buildings in Toronto, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. You could also click on the signature button   located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your username or IP address and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you. Johnny Au (talk/contributions) 02:08, 23 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Please do not use styles that are unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles, as you did in Toronto. There is a Manual of Style, edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. Thank you. Per Wikipedia:WikiProject_Canadian_communities, use Canada 2006 Census data where available. It supersedes all municipal websites. Thank you. Johnny Au (talk/contributions) 02:20, 23 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Image Replacement edit

Hello there. I notice lately you've been replacing a lot of images on Wikipedia with photos you took yourself. While uploading your images is very much encouraged please be aware that many of the images that you are replacing are more appropriate than your own photos in the contexts in which they are used. For instance in articles talking about cities in general, having a photo of a cities skyline showing a lot of the city and what makes it special (for instance Toronto being by the lake) is much more useful and appropriate than a tight shot of part of the business district. Copyright problems with File:Tdot2big.jpg edit

Hello. Concerning your contribution, File:Tdot2big.jpg, please note that Wikipedia cannot accept copyrighted text or images obtained from other web sites or printed material, without the permission of the author(s). As a copyright violation, File:Tdot2big.jpg appears to qualify for deletion under the speedy deletion criteria. File:Tdot2big.jpg has been tagged for deletion, and may have been deleted by the time you see this message.

If you believe that the article or image is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the Creative Commons Attribution/Share-Alike License (CC-BY-SA) then you should do one of the following:

  • If you have permission from the author, leave a message explaining the details at File talk:Tdot2big.jpg and send an email with the message to permissions-en wikimedia.org. See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
  • If a note on the original website states that it is licensed under the CC-BY-SA license, leave a note at File talk:Tdot2big.jpg with a link to where we can find that note.
  • If you hold the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en wikimedia.org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the CC-BY-SA and GFDL, and note that you have done so on File talk:Tdot2big.jpg.

However, for textual content, you may simply consider rewriting the content in your own words. While contributions are appreciated, Wikipedia must require all contributors to understand and comply with its copyright policy. Wikipedia takes copyright concerns very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. Thank you. Sumanch (talk) 21:33, 4 December 2011 (UTC)Reply

January 2012 edit

You have been blocked indefinitely from editing for violating copyright policy by copying text or images into Wikipedia from another source without verifying permission. You have been previously warned that this is against policy, but have persisted.

Please take this opportunity to be sure you understand our copyright policy and our policies regarding how to use non-free content. If you would like to be unblocked, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}}, but you should read the guide to appealing blocks first. Request reason:

I was unaware of the policy and it will not happen again Waldenbg (talk) 4:45 pm, Today (UTC−5)

Decline reason:

I find it hard to believe you were unaware of the policy when there are numerous messages on this page warning you about copyright issues. I count at least six warnings. TNXMan 21:51, 20 January 2012 (UTC)Reply

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Dundas Square Toronto at night.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on File:Dundas Square Toronto at night.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a file licensed as "for non-commercial use only", "no derivative use", "for Wikipedia use only", or "used with permission"; and it has not been shown to comply with the limited standards for the use of non-free content. If you agree with the deletion, there is no need to do anything. If, however, you believe that this image may be retained on Wikipedia under one of the permitted conditions then:

  • state clearly the source of the image. If it has been copied from elsewhere on the web you should provide links to: the image itself, the page which uses it and the page which contains the license conditions.
  • add the relevant copyright tag and if necessary, a complete fair use rationale.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here.
