May 2, 2008 edit

Thanks for your feedback. This was deleted, as we are not ready to make this information live yet. It has to go through another editor on our end. I was not aware of this, and had to take down the post until we receive final feedback. If I do not hear from you in 24 hours, I will be removing the post until we are ready to post it again. Thanks! Barcode page edit

The problem with the page was that the section I deleted was a copyright violation. As you know, Copyright violations are not allowed on Wikipedia, so it was removed. If you would like to re-add information without violating copyright, go for it. If you are uncertain if certain information is appropriate for Wikipedia, drop me a note and I'll be glad to help.  :) --Philosopher Let us reason together. 23:48, 12 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Image copyright problem with Image:Custom postage example.jpg edit

Image Copyright problem

Thank you for uploading Image:Custom postage example.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Polly (Parrot) 17:56, 23 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Image:Custom postage example.jpg edit

A tag has been placed on Image:Custom postage example.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section I4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image with an unknown source or an unknown copyright status which has been tagged as such for more than 7 days, and it still lacks the necessary information.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on [[ Talk:Image:Custom postage example.jpg|the talk page]] explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Walter Bowes edit

The article on Walter Bowes appears fine in its current state, but I'd like to mention that it may present a conflict of conflict of interest (see WP:COI). Specifically, if you are working for or on behalf of Pitney Bowes, then you are strongly discouraged from creating or editing articles related to the company or its history. This guideline exists to maintain neutrality within articles and to prevent the existence of advertising within Wikipedia. Thank you. --Several Times (talk) 16:59, 11 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

  • The neutrality problem in this article is more of a potential one rather than an existing one. Since you are essentially receiving financial compensation for creating and editing this article, you are more likely than the average editor to contribute information which presents Walter Bowes in a positive light and less likely to present his biography in the most neutral manner. As a few examples of this within the article, see the selection "He was a natural-born salesman...he smashed all sales records". These phrases promote the individual without stating anything other than his sales prowess. A Wikipedia article needs to show why information is important, as well as show sources to support that information. Items such as the disputes between Mr. Bowes and Arthur Pitney are indeed useful in this context. Once again, however, they should be supported by outside sources. Please let me know if you have any other questions. --Several Times (talk) 18:45, 21 July 2008 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:Walter Bowes BW.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Walter Bowes BW.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 22:10, 13 May 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 22:10, 13 May 2010 (UTC)Reply
