July 2022 edit

Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, please note that there is a Manual of Style that should be followed to maintain a consistent, encyclopedic appearance. Deviating from this style, as you did in Battle of Alaboi, disturbs uniformity among articles and may cause readability or accessibility problems. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Sumanuil. 19:23, 25 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please do not use styles that are nonstandard, unusual, inappropriate or difficult to understand in articles, as you did in Battle of Alaboi. There is a Manual of Style, and edits should not deliberately go against it without special reason. Thank you. Sumanuil. 06:40, 26 July 2022 (UTC)Reply

Assamese cuisine edit

Please do not keep removing cited material. Beef as taboo is a recent phenomenon. Please look at https://www.jstor.org/stable/10.2307/26671533 for a general discussion of the topic. Others such as D N Jha and Wendy Doniger have also written about beef eating. So you cannot make general claims on beef-eating and Hinduism. Brahmins of Kerala do continue to eat beef. Specific to Assam, not all inhabitants of Assam are/were followers of Ekasarana and even among these there are many sects within it that followed non-orthodox rites. And there are many, like the Ahoms, that ate beef. Do not remove cited material, which is WP:DE. Chaipau (talk) 10:55, 11 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Orthodox or unorthodox, beef is a taboo. The islamic rulers like tipu sultan enforced the slaughter of many hindus and forced them to eat beef, which over the course became a illegitimate habit. I being a Ahom myself never ever saw any ahom consuming it, also in no text is written that consuming beef is ok, it's has direct association with the god. I may come to this later Vishwanath2008 (talk) 02:50, 21 September 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please do not use Guha in Assamese cuisine. Guha mentions that liquor, pork and beef became taboo. But we know that pork and liquor are widely used. So how can you use this source to claim that beef is taboo now? Obviously this is not a reliable source for this claim. Chaipau (talk) 04:42, 20 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Pork and alcohol are taboo or seen as degraded items in the Vaisnava tradition. However this taboo is not strictly adhered as the taboo of beef. Vishwanath2008 (talk) 14:06, 20 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Please do not mix up the current revivalism elements, with this. I may not say this is in wikipedia, but this is very offensive for me as an, and also it may also led to misundersation among the non-readers. Vishwanath2008 (talk) 14:09, 20 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Burhagohain edit

Please do not project Sanskritised names/titles to times before they were regularly used. Chaipau (talk) 15:18, 1 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Agreed, but does it make any difference , as the sanskritised names are the more frequently used. Vishwanath2008 (talk) 10:27, 15 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Rudra Singha image edit

Please do not revert the Rudra Singha image. The current one is a better depiction of the king. It is in color and closer to the original. A historical picture cannot be used as a portrait, since it was not meant to be. There is no guarantee of likeness. Chaipau (talk) 20:08, 15 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

The image that you have provided is of very poor quality, and the faces are not even clear. Also It is not relevant to show some other thing, in which is just ment for the picture of that person. Look at the other pages. Vishwanath2008 (talk) 04:21, 16 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Ahom kingdom edit

Please provide specifics of punishment, citing sources. Please do not use judgmental tones. It makes no sense to be judgmental of past practices since most punishments in the past were very harsh, irrespective of region. Chaipau (talk) 17:48, 20 October 2022 (UTC)Reply

Done, thanks. Vishwanath2008 (talk) 18:37, 20 October 2022 (UTC)Reply
