Hello ViperSnake,

I would just like to note that the article HTC One is now being reviewed for GA status. Cheers! -- (T) Numbermaniac (C) 12:54, 7 June 2013 (UTC)

After that amazingly quick reference addition, the article is now a GA!   -- (T) Numbermaniac (C) 00:18, 8 June 2013 (UTC)
Perhaps a bit late, but I'll do it anyway.
HTC One is now a Good Article
Congrats! The article you nominated HTC One was just promoted to Good Article status! Great job to all of your hard work!

Edit summaries

Hi! :) Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

Please make sure to include an edit summary with every single edit. The summaries are quite helpful to people browsing an article's history. Yes, I know that writing edit summaries is annoying; but that's nothing compared to the annoyingness of reading article histories when some edit summaries are missing. :) For many non-controversial edits, a very-simple edit summary like "+." or "Copyediting." is all you need to provide. And you don't have to come up with a new edit summary for every single edit: for example, if you do multiple edits which all just add text to an article you're writing, then you can use "+." for all of those edits.

By the way, IIRC if you don't provide an edit summary before clicking "Save page", then MediaWiki doesn't save the edit right away. Instead, it prompts you to provide an edit summary. Do you really click "Save page" twice for every edit simply in order to avoid having to write an edit summary?

If you reply to this message, please move it to my talk page, then reply there; I can do the same if I reply in turn. Thanks!

Cheers, —Unforgettableid (talk) 05:26, 21 July 2013 (UTC)

Nintendo 2DS

Regarding your work on the Nintendo 2DS article: I understand your desire to steamline the content, but please do be careful in how you describe your edits. In this edit you described my contributions as undoing your streamlining. This was neither the intent nor the effect of what I did; I added content in a meaningful and appropriate way. I have taken particular care to organize information by topic so as to ease readability; my edits reflect that desire. Please assume good faith on the part of other editors.

The reason I add (and then re-added) the content is because it was valuable and relevant. Please do not remove content that contributes to an encyclopedic understanding of the subject. I am happy to reword phrases that may be unclear, but I am not okay with mass removal of content. Thank you. CaseyPenk (talk) 18:25, 29 August 2013 (UTC)

I realize that I've been rather tense about the article -- mostly because I wrote most of it myself. I will try to avoid making this into an edit war. I do think you've added some valuable content and made the prose smoother. Hopefully we can reach a happy medium on this. For the most part I'm satisfied with the article so far, following our deliberations back and forth. How about you -- what do you say? A confirmation that you want to work together on this would be reassuring. CaseyPenk (talk) 00:22, 30 August 2013 (UTC)

List of LTE networks - Canada - Rogers

Hi there. You recently removed the "marketed as LTE Max" Note from Roger's AWS1700 deployment, noting that this name is only used in reference to Roger's 2600 deployment. This is in conflict with a cited reference for these two deployments. Please take another look there. Are you definitely sure about your point of view? If it turns out that it is not really clear at all, we might consider simply removing the "LTE Max" note at all. Nightwalker-87 (talk) 10:02, 1 September 2013 (UTC)

The RTM case of Windows 8.1

Hi, Viper

How do you do? I thought maybe I should talk to you about the coverage of RTM in Windows 8 article.

What you wrote is the perspective of certain magazine editors who are not being entirely neutral. They are trying to make it a case that this "secrecy" thing is dedicated and new to Windows 8.1. However, there are things that they didn't say but you can still find them in sources. First, Microsoft dropped TechNet Plus two month ago and changed its policy about what's available to who. Second, remembering that 8.1 is effectively a free service pack, you see that Microsoft is not doing anything out of ordinary. Back then, Microsoft issued a "release candidate" to manufacturers and there was not RTM or GA; only RTW. Names are certainly changed, yes: Service pack → 8.1; RC → RTM; RTW → GA/launch. But the essence is the same.

In general, I think the current coverage is WP:UNDUE. What do you think?

Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 17:53, 2 September 2013 (UTC)

Hi. Well, it still looks like a huge version of "daddy, let us open the presents before Chrismas!" to me, especially since Caroline Donnelly's primary source seems to have been two blog commenters! That makes her "MSDN and TechNet Subscribers" a WP:WEASEL. It still looks like sensationlism to me. But... whatever!
Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk)

Re: Wait actually...

The disc images? Oh, yeah... I remember now. That's true. I was too focused on the package the we used to deploy through Active Directory / Group Policy.   Still, we knew this bit about disc images not being part of the deal when Tami Reller announced Windows Blue and said it is going to be available through Windows Store. They are angry now? Maybe the blow was so heavy that IT Pros were in the state of BSOD until right now, when they rebooted and shouted from anger and frustration... Best regards,

Firefox, WP:LEADIMAGE and Windows

There is nothing in the guideline for LEADIMAGE that states that the image must be in Windows so please stop replacing a perfectly good image with one that's in Windows. It was discussed on that article's talk page and the consensus was that the first image should be kept regardless of OS because the minor differences between the images would not sufficiently detract and the OS does not the spirit of the guideline. Walter Görlitz (talk) 01:49, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Firefox. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.

Please be particularly aware, Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:

  1. Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made; that is to say, editors are not automatically "entitled" to three reverts.
  2. Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.

If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Sorry about the last one. Lost count. Just a reminder. WP:BRD Walter Görlitz (talk) 05:28, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

Huh? What happened to WP:DTTR? Any way, I agree with ViperSnake151's assessment. Best regards, Codename Lisa (talk) 12:51, 5 September 2013 (UTC)

HTC One image

Should we use the black HTC One image for the infobox? The quality is a bit poor and unclear, but at least it's not taken from a weird angle. - M0rphzone (talk) 02:29, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

The current image is ok, but an image of a close-up, straight shot of the One could be better. Also, thanks for cropping and cleaning up the image. It looks a lot better now. - M0rphzone (talk) 02:50, 11 August 2013 (UTC)

Update regarding your comments about the image change: personal preference isn't a good argument for using the diagonal view shot. For products such as smartphones, a straight-up image of the HTC One showing more detail is more effective than a farther away, lower resolution diagonal view with light reflections and and an extraneous background. If readers want to see the thickness, they will be able to see it on the back view shot. I don't think there's a valid reason not to use the updated image. Infobox images are supposed to be clear and specific, and accurately portray the article topic. That's what the new image does (or is supposed to do). - M0rphzone (talk) 04:51, 9 September 2013 (UTC)

HTC One

I feel that one of the two diagonal view photos should be included in the article. I already blacked out the screen on the keyboard one, but I could also black out the screen on the other, depending on which one is more relevant/beneficial to the article. And I think you may have nominated for FAC a bit too early :/ ...the article is still mostly incomplete, since we can add a section covering network availability, expand the commercial reception section, add a design phase section, and add a lot more about the software and hardware features. - M0rphzone (talk) 15:16, 20 September 2013 (UTC)

At the moment there's really no reasonable chance of a promotion. Regards, --Sp33dyphil ©hatontributions 11:16, 21 September 2013 (UTC)

Moving Metro (design language) to Microsoft design language

Hello Viper

I hope I didn't catch you in a bad time but I am afraid I do not really think moving Metro (design language) to Microsoft design language is a good idea. I do not believe "Microsoft design language" has become WP:COMMONNAME. This is exactly the reason for which previous rename requests met with not much support.

That said, I have no prejudice against a discussion. I have said before and I say it again: You often make good editing decision and if the result of a discussion is a consensus to move, I'll put it on the account of your good judgment.

Best regards,

Disney XD

Could you please clarify "The article says that "The Family Channel Inc." was its as specified by the CRTC"? I still don't see a reference that says "The Family Channel Inc.". Thanks, 117Avenue (talk) 04:12, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

That reference is 4 years old, how do you know Disney XD is still owned by The Family Channel Inc. 117Avenue (talk) 04:21, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

OS components

Hi ViperSnake. I noticed that you created (and later speedied) Template:Infobox OS component. A few weeks ago there was a TfD about Template:Infobox Windows component, where several users recommended renaming the template to "Infobox OS component" or "infobox software component". If you need an infobox for that purpose, perhaps Windows component can be moved to one of those names.--eh bien mon prince (talk) 10:23, 3 October 2013 (UTC)

Help regarding Samsung Galaxy Note 3 edits by user Ausgoth

Hi I know your are also contributing to the article Samsung Galaxy Note 3, so may I ask for your help regarding user Ausgoth as he does not seem to stop on insisting his edits which you also reverted back due to either being redundant and/or erroneous. He was blocked before for breaching the 3RR, several warnings on his talk page was already given, yet he still insists on editing without getting the consensus of majority of the editors via the article's talk page which already disrupts the article. We need to do something about this user more than warnings already as he seems not to heed to it. Thanks! JeromesandilanicoJSD (talk) 10:07, 16 October 2013 (UTC)

Hi ViperSnake151, I've fully protected the page and started a discussion at Talk:Samsung Galaxy Note 3#Edit war. Your participation would be appreciated. Best. Acalamari 11:47, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

Windows 8.1 availability

Hello, Viper

I wouldn't say "no" to making things brief but I had to revert this edit because it generated incorrect info:

  • OEM users can also receive update for free
  • Enterprise edition is not a purely VLK edition
  • There are other licensing forms that are not covered by VLK, Retail, OEM and MSDN. I was careful neither to include nor exclude them; unfortunately, your edit was not as careful.

Best regards,
Codename Lisa (talk) 21:28, 18 October 2013 (UTC)

Hello, Viper
Thanks for the changes but there are still errors: First, "must be deployed as a new version" is not entirely correct; sources that I added explicitly said that in-place upgrade is possible, so, a fresh install is not always required. Second, Windows 8.1 requires its own key which is not free. If you don't want to use Microsoft sources, Paul Thurrott's Supersite (winsupersite.com) also mentions this.
And by the way, I find the mention of MDT and System Center just geeky; doesn't make much sense to lay people. I think the article would do better without them.
Best regards, Codename Lisa (talk) 01:36, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
Hi. Yes, that's exactly what I was talking about when I said "in-place upgrade". (What made you think I am talking about something else?) But if you want to expand on, Paul does mention that Windows 8 and Windows 8.1 product keys are different near the end. Microsoft source also says the product won't activate without a Windows 8.1 license. Best regards, Codename Lisa (talk) 09:30, 19 October 2013 (UTC)
P.S. On the hindsight, Paul's site has the problem that every site without editorial review has: No review. He has assumed (and has strong faith) that Windows 8.1 update is free; so he just says "Why make life so difficult, Microsoft? Neither of these issues makes any sense at all." Based on our policy, we made no such assumption (or were ready to denounce it), so it makes sense to us. I tried to tell him; but he blocked my account instead. Your GA nomination of HTC Dream

The article HTC Dream you nominated as a good article has passed  ; see Talk:HTC Dream for comments about the article. Well done! Zach Vega (talk to me) 19:01, 19 October 2013 (UTC)

Nexus One

The article on the Nexus One definitely needs some major overhaul as well... the current quality is horrendous for an article on the first Google Nexus device. I've cleaned it up a bit for now, but I'll probably update it later when I have time to research more about it. Great job to you and Zach Vega on achieving GA for the HTC Dream. - M0rphzone (talk) 02:47, 20 October 2013 (UTC)
