TRUTH IN SCIENCE edit
The objective of science is to discover truth, which is simply verified knowledge. It is based on verified observations (facts) but always has a small amount of uncertainty (since we will never know everything). However the word "truth" itself implies the existence of an absolute which falsifies all alternatives, a position we can never hold. So in fact we don't have "truth" the best we can do is called 'knowledge'. Theories may have contrary observations which may be 'held in tension' until verified or rejected. As a consequence any scientific theory no matter how beautiful is 'falsified' by a single contrary verified observation or 'ugly fact'.
