Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia. Unfortunately, the commercial links/content you added to the page Hotel Chelsea were inappropriate, as Wikipedia is an encyclopedia and should not be used for advertising or a collection of external links. See the welcome page if you'd like to learn more about contributing to the encyclopedia. Thanks! -Patstuart 18:24, 27 September 2006 (UTC)Reply

Warning added to User talk:Vacationeer edit

I'm not sure why my addition was marked as spam. I found the reviews at TripAdvisor helpful for my stay at the hotel. How is a link to those reviews any different from the link to flickr photos on the page? Flickr is a commercial site as well. I don't see the difference.

Hi. Usually when a user posts the same website to multiple pages, he/she is usually a spammer. We don't usually look at other links on a page; just how many changes you have made, and what they were. In your case, it appears you're not a spammer, so feel free to put the links back in, and accept my apologies. To help out, I'll place this discussion on your talk page, so others don't warn you. -Patstuart 18:41, 27 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Pat was quite correct, those links are considered to be spam. Vacationeer, your only edits so far on Wikipedia have been links to tripadvisor.com pages. Tripadvisor is a commercial site, comparable to travelocity and expedia, and it's not appropriate to add links to it. Thanks. -- Jim Douglas 19:01, 27 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
