Potential user name issues and/or conflict of interest

edit

Based upon the article you have been editing, please be aware of:

Hello, VilliersPark. We welcome your contributions to Wikipedia, but if you are affiliated with some of the people, places or things you have written about on Wikipedia, you may have a conflict of interest or close connection to the subject.

All editors are required to comply with Wikipedia's neutral point of view content policy. People who are very close to a subject often have a distorted view of it, which may cause them to inadvertently edit in ways that make the article either too flattering or too disparaging. People with a close connection to a subject are not absolutely prohibited from editing about that subject, but they need to be especially careful about ensuring their edits are verified by reliable sources and writing with as little bias as possible.

If you are very close to a subject, here are some ways you can reduce the risk of problems:

  • Avoid or exercise great caution when editing or creating articles related to you, your organization, or its competitors, as well as projects and products they are involved with.
  • Be cautious about deletion discussions. Everyone is welcome to provide information about independent sources in deletion discussions, but avoid advocating for deletion of articles about your competitors.
  • Avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or website of your organization in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam).
  • Exercise great caution so that you do not accidentally breach Wikipedia's content policies.

Please familiarize yourself with relevant content policies and guidelines, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, verifiability of information, and autobiographies.

For information on how to contribute to Wikipedia when you have a conflict of interest, please see our frequently asked questions for organizations. Thank you.

Welcome to Wikipedia. I noticed that your username, "VilliersPark", may not meet Wikipedia's username policy because it is the name of a company, group or organization; one that you have been editing about.. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. As an alternative, you may ask for a change of username, or you may simply create a new account for editing. Thank you. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 14:04, 5 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames that give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy.  You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} below this notice. Thank you. Requested username:

Request reason:

I would like to appeal this block and prefer this username which has no affiliations with the article or company before 82.152.80.230 (talk) 09:33, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

Decline reason:

Sorry, but to my mind VPET has a very close connection to the Villiers Park Educational Trust. You must get away from the Trust's title. Also, you MUST be logged in when posting a request for unblocking for it to be considered at all. Peridon (talk) 12:35, 18 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

to appeal the block, this username has no affiliation with the trusts title. VilliersPark (talk) 16:33, 18 November 2013 (UTC)

Decline reason:

To be honest, your previous attempt was clearly promotional, and your answer to the questions below indicates that you have not read and comprehended the linked policies. If your only intent is to continue promotional editing, I'm not sure unblocking you is wise. Are there any other additions you'd like to make, or is this it? Kuru (talk) 12:49, 25 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Here are a few key questions:

You are currently blocked because your username appears directly related to a company, group or product that you have been promoting, contrary to the username policy. Changing the username will not allow you to violate the 3 important principles above. Daniel Case (talk) 23:27, 18 November 2013 (UTC)Reply

Contrary to what you may think Daniel Case I have read and understood all of the above pages on Wikipedia. The article I would like to create does not violate these rules, I understand that my username did, and I now would like to request a username change. Other organisations have submitted articles previously, I do not see, if the article does not violate the rules, and when my username is changed, why an article on the charity Villiers Park Educational Trust should not be accepted. I am a new user and have been encouraged by Wikipedia to write new articles on a new topic. I apologise for the wrong choice of username. VilliersPark (talk) 11:35, 19 November 2013 (UTC)Reply
