I am not really sure what goes here. I've used the site forever but haven't bothered joining. I've made a number of edits in the past, they stuck usually, so I figured as time allows I may make some effort to remain and assist where I'm able. I'm not even sure if this sort of commentary goes here and the various help pages aren't all that informative.

Decided to join, made edits under LTE (telecommunication) and Parallel Port. Both were with IP address 216.227.95.99 as a reminder to myself. I don't know if it is possible or how to go about it so I'm not listed as the person who made those changes, they're simply listed as the IP address. I figured greater accountability would be in order so I made it a point to create an account so that I, and others, can note the various changes made.

I have seen errors and wanted to add information in the past, in fact I have, but with joining I'm hoping that I'll be more inclined to do so in the future. We shall see.

Thank you Bob. I appreciate the links and hope to use some of my spare time helping the project. I've made use of Wikipedia for years and have made a few edits anonymously over those years (they usually stuck too which means I must have been doing something right). I've done a lot of coding and a lot of markup so learning the Wikipedia language shouldn't be too difficult, I'm working on it.

As it stands, though, I have a lot to learn still so your links are much appreciated and I shall make good use of them. I've scanned them all and added them all to my bookmarks. Thank you.

Hmm... My four tildes ~~~~ seem inclined to show my signature ("So long and thanks for all the fish.") instead of my username and the date. No worries. The markup is a bit hard to learn, but here are some suggestions:

• Replying beneath somebody else's comment is generally the best thing to do. Wikipedia is still in the internet equivalent of the palæolithic; various ASCII characters are used for markup and we don't have proper threading yet.
• If you want a new section heading or subheading, try equals signs (instead of the hyphens above). Various combinations of colons and asterisks give indents and bullet points.
• Don't worry too much about getting everything perfect on a talkpage; nobody's going to attack you for failing to master clunky UI and markup at the first attempt. It gets more important on pages where several people argue at length.
• In fact, let's not get bogged down in that technical-internal stuff at all. If you want to improve articles, and if you care about sources, you've already got the most important bit, and I'm sure you'll do great work.

Heh... Yeah, I'm learning my way around and learning the markup. I spend a lot of time reading the various pages that are just for editors and the many rules and things like that. I'm having a good deal of fun though I'm still cautious when making larger edits so I have decided that, for now, I'll go to the talk page first and then make edits depending on the results.

Thank you, again, for your kind words and help. The links you gave were awful! They made me click around and ended up adding (all by themselves, I tell you) at least twenty more bookmark entries. I knew I should have just kept editing anonymously! *grins*
