Welcome! edit

Hello, Universität Bremen, and welcome to Wikipedia! Thank you for your contributions.

I noticed that one of the first articles you edited was University of Bremen, which appears to be dealing with a topic with which you may have a conflict of interest. In other words, you may find it difficult to write about that topic in a neutral and objective way, because you are, work for, or represent, the subject of that article. Your recent contributions may have already been undone for this very reason.

To reduce the chances of your contributions being undone, you might like to draft your revised article before submission, and then ask me or another editor to proofread it. See our help page on userspace drafts for more details. If the page you created has already been deleted from Wikipedia, but you want to save the content from it to use for that draft, don't hesitate to ask anyone from this list and they will copy it to your user page.

One rule we do have in connection with conflicts of interest is that accounts used by more than one person will unfortunately be blocked from editing. Wikipedia generally does not allow editors to have usernames which imply that the account belongs to a company or corporation. If you have a username like this, you should request a change of username or create a new account. (A name that identifies the user as an individual within a given organization may be OK.)

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Help me}} before the question. Again, welcome! Managing a conflict of interest edit

  Hello, Universität Bremen. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places, or things you have written about in the article University of Bremen, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a COI may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic, and it is important when editing Wikipedia articles that such connections be completely transparent. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for organizations for more information. In particular, we ask that you please:

  • avoid editing or creating articles related to you and your family, friends, school, company, club, or organization, as well as any competing companies' projects or products;
  • instead, you are encouraged to propose changes on the Talk pages of affected article(s) (see the {{request edit}} template);
  • when discussing affected articles, disclose your COI (see WP:DISCLOSE);
  • avoid linking to the Wikipedia article or to the website of your organization in other articles (see WP:SPAM);
  • exercise great caution so that you do not violate Wikipedia's content policies.

In addition, you must disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation (see WP:PAID).

Please take a few moments to read and review Wikipedia's policies regarding conflicts of interest, especially those pertaining to neutral point of view, sourcing and autobiographies. Thank you. Murph9000 (talk) 14:53, 3 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Thank you Murph9000! This is an account created by Universität Bremen (University of Bremen), which was verified by Wikipedia after registration. We update the article about the University to make sure facts are correct and up to date. We always try to add the best citation available. Please let us know if there is anything we need to do additionally. Edit:

We have noted that our Account on Wikipedia.org looks different from our account in the German Wikipedia (see: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benutzer:Universit%C3%A4t_Bremen). Is it possible to have this account the same way as in the German Wikipedia, meaning that we can edit our "own" article? We do not aim to spread marketing texts, but want to make sure the article is always up to date.Universität Bremen (talk) 15:17, 3 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Universität Bremen We (the English Wikipedia) do not have a reciprocal policy as far as I know, like the one on the German Wikipedia with regard to shared/official accounts. You can have a username that identifies each user an individual. When you say "we" - how many people have access to this account? As far as the content goes, because of your conflict of interest, you should request edits on the talk page where an uninvolved editor will either implement them or decline based on en-wp policy. Sorry for the confusion, "we" as in the institution. Only one editor (me) has access to this account. It appears that the policies of English and German Wikipedia are conflicting. German Wikipedia encourages institutions to use an account that identifies the user as the institution. They offer a verification for such accounts (see here on the University's account page: https://de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Benutzer:Universit%C3%A4t_Bremen). The article "University of Bremen" is marked as part of the WikiProject Germany[1], I am not sure if that makes any difference. However, it seems the policy here is different from German Wikipedia so I will of course not edit any further and instead suggest edits. Thank you for bringing this to my attention!Universität Bremen (talk) 08:10, 4 May 2017 (UTC)Reply

Your username edit

  Welcome to Wikipedia. I saw that you edited or created University of Bremen, and I noticed that your username, "Universität Bremen", may not comply with our username policy. Please note that you may not use a username that represents the name of a company, group, organization, product, or website. Examples of usernames that are not allowed include "XYZ Company", "MyWidgetsUSA.com", and "Foobar Museum of Art". However, you are invited to use a username that contains such a name if it identifies you personally, such as "Sara Smith at XYZ Company", "Mark at WidgetsUSA", or "FoobarFan87".

Please also note that Wikipedia does not allow accounts to be shared by multiple people, and that you may not advocate for or promote any company, group, organization, product, or website, regardless of your username. Moreover, I recommend that you read our conflict of interest guideline. If you are a single individual and are willing to contribute to Wikipedia in an unbiased manner, please create a new account or request a change of username, by completing this form, choosing a username that complies with our username policy. If you believe that your username does not violate our policy, please leave a note here explaining why. Thank you. Murph9000 (talk) 14:53, 3 May 2017 (UTC)Reply
