I already told you that you need to go to deletion review if you think the process failed. Vandalizing my user page isn't going to help bring the page back. --OnoremDil 18:36, 14 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Maric

edit

Hi,

Articles in Wikipedia must meet several basic requirements: they must be verifiable, reliably-sourced, written in a neutral tone about notable subjects. In your case, as the subject is a person the relevant guidelines is here. Although you are welcome to continue trying (in your userspace) to compose an article on Mr. Maric that meets these requirements, consensus has shown repeatedly that young athletes are not generally notable unless they reach a full professional status. Playing as a semi-professional, being "in training", or having "tried out" or practiced with a full professional club are not sufficiently notable to qualify. Mr. Maric may one day merit an encyclopedic article. He is a young man, and it is best to see how his career develops over the coming years. Best wishes, Xoloz (talk) 18:29, 14 January 2008 (UTC)

FK Igalo

edit

Please do not add Dejan Marić to FK Igalo before you can add verifiable proof that he actually plays for the team. AecisBrievenbus 15:57, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

You're right, we have no way of telling if any of these players actually play for FK Igalo. Which raises the question of whether we should have a Current Squad section in the article at all. However, this does not warrant adding possibly another dubious name. I hope you understand that we can't take your word for it. AecisBrievenbus 16:48, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Since the club doesn't appear to have a website, that is not an option. What would help would be the line-up of a match on a reliable news website, which would show that he has recently played for FK Igalo. Another option would be a newspaper article. Just a few suggestions. AecisBrievenbus 16:59, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
The only Marić there is listed for FK Boka Metal, which is a non-notable youth team from Sutorina and an opponent of FK Igalo. There's no proof that someone named Dejan Marić played for the senior squad of FK Igalo. AecisBrievenbus 17:17, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
That still doesn't prove that he has played for or is part of the senior squad of FK Igalo. AecisBrievenbus 17:22, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
It only proves that someone named Marić has played for FK/OSK Igalo and was substituted by someone named Mijatović. That is not enough, no. AecisBrievenbus 17:50, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
If he's that talented, it should be easy to find mention of him on the website of the Montenegrin Football Association. AecisBrievenbus 17:56, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

(unindent) The article Dejan Marić has been protected from creation because it had been recreated repeatedly. See also Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Dejan Marić. For more on such protections, see Wikipedia:Protection policy#Creation protection. If you wish to have the article unprotected, you can file a request for unprotection at Wikipedia:Requests for page protection#Current requests for unprotection. I also recommend you take this up with WikiProject Football. AecisBrievenbus 22:16, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply

I am not going to unprotect the article, because that's what we have Requests for Unprotection for. If you wish to have the article unprotected, you can request it there. If you need help with the request, I'm more than willing to help. But I will not unprotect the article. AecisBrievenbus 22:25, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
I have told you that I will not unprotect the article for you, that you will need to go through Wikipedia:Requests for page protection#Current requests for unprotection. It was protected for a reason. You might therefore also want to contact the protecting admin, Xoloz (talk · contribs). What makes you think that I will unprotect the article if only you ask it often enough? AecisBrievenbus 22:35, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
Blocking applies to editors. When an editor is blocked, he or she can't edit Wikipedia. When an article can't be edited we call it "protected". The article Dejan Marić has been protected, so that noone can create the article. I have told you that you need to go to Wikipedia:Requests for page protection#Current requests for unprotection and follow the steps listed there. That way an administrator can end the protection of the article. I will help you with the request if you want me to, but I will not end the protection of the article myself. AecisBrievenbus 22:49, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
I don't know if it will get unprotected, I can't tell. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. Time will tell. I strongly recommend you raise this issue on Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Football as well, because Dejan Marić has been discussed there before. As far as the Current Squad section of FK Igalo is concerned: although I don't speak Montenegrin, I think it has been verifiably established that someone named Marić has played for FK Igalo. But because of the past discussions, I would recommend keeping it as it is for the moment, showing just the surname. Not perfect, but for now it's okay. AecisBrievenbus 23:13, 21 May 2008 (UTC)Reply
