Albert Hofmann's "death" edit

How did you get ahold of Rick before anyone else?

I didn't personally. But I have it from a reliable source. Probably not accepted by Wikipedia, though. Turkeyphant 21:24, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
How did you find out before Dancesafe? Aestetix (talk) 22:16, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Why would Dancesafe be amongst the first to know?! I think Erowid and Rick are two reliable sources. Turkeyphant 22:25, 29 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

JWH-073 edit

JWH-073 is active both orally and when vaporised. The smoked dose is about 2-3 mg.

Could please add some more information on this issue. The section right now is not very clear, e.g. "active" in which way, I assume you mean psychoactive. Also the dose is not clear, 2-3 mg for an adult male human? Thanks, Panoramix303 (talk) 19:43, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Is my clarification any good? I'll try to find a source for the dose but I'm not sure whether information has been published yet - I suspect the figure comes from subjective bioassays. Turkeyphant 19:49, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
I changed active to psychoactive. Paracetamol is also active but not in this sense. Please add a source as soon as possible, erowid is fine, too. -- Panoramix303 (talk) —Preceding undated comment was added at 19:56, 9 November 2008 (UTC).Reply
I had the link going to psychoactive for clarity - in this context, the shorter "active" is more common in my experience. Turkeyphant 19:59, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply
Wikipedia is for a bigger audience, so it might be misleading for people not familiar with this subject. -- Panoramix303 (talk) 20:18, 9 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

punctuation and verifiability edit

Please see my comment at Talk:Father's_Day#Punctuation_Error. I already gave enough sources at Mother's Day to satisfy the verifiability policy, and I'll add a few to Father's Day in a pair of hours. --Enric Naval (talk) 17:01, 27 January 2009 (UTC) Hum, I just archived all discussions from 2006 and 2007 on Talk:Mother's Day, and I accidentally sent your recent comment to the archive Talk:Mother's_Day/Archive_1#Mother.27s_Day_vs_Mothers.27_day because it was done on an old discussion. I'd rather not unarchive the whole discussion because it's been made moot by the new arguments given at the recent discussion at Talk:Mother's_Day#Mother.27s_Day_or_Mothers_Day.3F. Could you read that new section and comment there taking into account the arguments given there? --Enric Naval (talk) 21:19, 27 January 2009 (UTC)Reply

Just a note edit

I saw that you had made some changes to the spelling of words in Crayon and it had been reverted by another editor. I just wanted to point you to the section on variations of English. As long as it is consistent within the article, it doesn't matter which "version" of English is used. I hope you find this helpful. Wperdue (talk) 15:30, 9 May 2009 (UTC)wperdueReply

The U edit

Just wondering what would provoke you to change the List of Crayola crayon colors page to include a U in the word color. Binney & Smith/Crayola (now part of Hallmark) is a company that was founded in the United States and maintains its headquarters there. Crayola's website and lists referenced on the aforementioned Wiki page all use the spelling "color." Would it make sense for me to change the word colour to color in the Smarties article? I think not. Crayonsman (talk) 02:23, 10 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

I was just fixing a broken link to that page. Feel free to change it to a redirect. Turkeyphant 11:08, 10 May 2009 (UTC)Reply

Edit warring on Osama bin Laden edit

Hi: You seem to be in an edit war over at Osama bin Laden. Please do not call fellow editors stupid, and discuss controversial changes on the Talk page instead of edit warring. Thanks, RayTalk 15:13, 24 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

There's no edit war, I did not call anyone stupid and the changes are far from controversial. The justification for my changes are in the opening section of the article and the other editor doesn't seem to understand what "last name", a term used in his edit summary, actually means. Please feel free to take a look for yourself. Cheers, Turkeyphant 16:27, 24 August 2009 (UTC)Reply

Your rename suggestion on Offside (association football) edit

Sorry, I just don't understand your latest contribution to that thread. What is it that you believe either does or does not make consistent sense? Kevin McE (talk) 17:47, 26 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

There is no consistency in using "association football" to describe a sport commonly known as "football" or "soccer" and "rugby" to describe a sport commonly known as "rugby". Turkeyphant 20:29, 26 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
I wouldn't describe that as a matter of consistency. Apart from the fact that there is not one sport called rugby, the sport that the offside article in question is about is known variously by three names: football, soccer, and association football. Of these three, consensus was reached that the last mentioned is the appropriate disambiguator, after many debates, of which this is just one. As I've said, I don't agree with it, but it was the consensus reached after discussion, which is how things happen here. Kevin McE (talk) 21:28, 26 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
I understand all that - all I'm saying is that the consensus should be re-evaluated as obviously it's very inconsistent. The fact that there's not one sport called rugby merely strengthens my point. Turkeyphant 21:57, 26 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of ICard Mobile edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on ICard Mobile requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. —Tom Morris (talk) 10:59, 2 August 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Linux package formats, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page NAS (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

The Wikipedia Library now offering accounts from Cochrane Collaboration (sign up!) edit

Cochrane Collaboration is an independent medical nonprofit organization consisting of over 28,000 volunteers in more than 100 countries. The collaboration was formed to organize medical scholarship in a systematic way in the interests of evidence-based research: the group conducts systematic reviews of randomized controlled trials of health-care interventions, which it then publishes in the Cochrane Library.

Cochrane has generously agreed to give free, full-access accounts to 100 medical editors. Individual access would otherwise cost between $300 and $800 per account. Thank you Cochrane!

If you are stil active as a medical editor, come and sign up :)

Lunar Distance Method edit

FYI - I removed your request for citation and added a reference.

However, I thought I'd mention that you are confusing two things in your comment that accompanied the citation request.

The Moon illusion is a real phenomena and is purely illusion. However, this is not the effect that is noted on the Lunar distance page. In the latter case, the moon's apparent size is dependent on the actual distance to the moon. This changes from apogee to perigee and the apparent size differs by about 7%. The Moon page shows that the Angular diameter varies from 29.3 to 34.1 arcminutes.

I hope this clears things up. 99.245.230.104 (talk) 19:40, 23 June 2014 (UTC)Reply

File source problem with File:GOAT.JPG edit

Thank you for uploading File:GOAT.JPG. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the page from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of the website's terms of use of its content. If the original copyright holder is a party unaffiliated with the website, that author should also be credited. Please add this information by editing the image description page.

If the necessary information is not added within the next days, the image will be deleted. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem.

Please refer to the image use policy to learn what images you can or cannot upload on Wikipedia. Please also check any other files you have uploaded to make sure they are correctly tagged. Here is a list of your uploads. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Proposed deletion of KiteMobile edit

The article KiteMobile has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

The network was announced in 2011 but never appears to have become active. Their website is parked. Creation of this article was premature.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. Alternate edit

You might want to see the Wiktionary entry for alternate, which includes the following definitions:

Adjective edit

3. (US) Other; alternative.
Hyperlinked text is displayed in alternate color in a Web browser.

Noun edit

2. (US) A substitute; an alternative; one designated to take the place of another, if necessary, in performing some duty.

Misunderestimate is also on Wiktionary and is also the result of an error. Use of "words" like this should surely be discouraged in an encylopaedia (especially when the correct word is available)? Turkeyphant 10:25, 11 October 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thankfully the Wikipedia Manual of Style now explicitly states to avoid using "alternate" when "alternative" is meant. Turkeyphant 11:35, 13 September 2018 (UTC)Reply

Zevvle moved to draftspace edit

An article you recently created, Zevvle, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please follow the prompts on the Articles for Creation template atop the page. ... discospinster talk 13:25, 10 September 2019 (UTC)Reply
