January 2008 edit

Hi, the recent edit you made to Turbonillinae has been reverted, as it appears to be unconstructive. Use the sandbox for testing; if you believe the edit was constructive, ensure that you provide an informative edit summary. You may also wish to read the introduction to editing. Thanks. Little context in Collumella (mollusk) edit

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Collumella (mollusk), by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Collumella (mollusk) is very short providing little or no context to the reader. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Collumella (mollusk), please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Pyramidellidae edit

Hi Turbonilla! Welcome to Wikipedia. Since you seem to be doing a lot of work creating new articles about the Pyramidellidae, I thought I would send you this:

 Wikiproject Gastropods
I've noticed your edits on pages relating to Gastropods; perhaps you'd be interested in joining WikiProject Gastropods?
If you would like more information, please visit the project page or the project talk page.

Joining is a very informal thing and does not mean much, but even if you have no interest in signing up, at any rate you might want to know who is also working on gastropods. I only started on Wikipedia last July, so I am fairly new too. Invertzoo (talk) 15:18, 30 January 2008 (UTC)Reply

Re: Thanks! edit

Hey! We are very please to have you! WELCOME TURBONILLA! I am especially happy to have an editor here who understands something about the Pyramidellidae, because it's such a huge and fascinating family, and I would really like to know more about it. By the way, just to let you know a couple of little things: 1. It's good to sign your name by putting four "~"s after you leave a message, and 2. When you are doing some editing, if you can try to remember to fill in something brief in the "Edit summary" slot at the bottom of whichever editing page you are on each time before you do a "Save page", that would be a really helpful thing too. All good wishes to you. Invertzoo (talk) 00:24, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

Aplacophora edit

OK, thanks Turbonilla! I will try to get ahold of a copy of that. I will also pass your info along to GrahamBould, who was the one who was asking about how to handle the taxoboxes of the Aplacophora entries he was doing. Best to you, Invertzoo (talk) 00:37, 5 February 2008 (UTC)Reply

A very large and widespread CopyVio problem edit

I want to alert all Project Gastropods staff to the fact that we currently have a very major CopyVio problem which compromises the integrity of the encyclopedia, and opens the door for legal action against Wikipedia. This problem is spread across a huge number of gastropod articles (approximately 800 to 1,000) and it also spills over into the other molluscan groups. I am asking ask everyone who is available to help out with this in whatever way they can, but please do so in an organized and unified fashion so we all know what is going on. It seems that all of the articles in the Category: Molluscs of New Zealand [1] contain a great deal of text that is copied verbatim or almost verbatim from the 1979 book by Powell, New Zealand Mollusca. I have had no experience in dealing with a crisis of this magnitude. Any help that any of you can offer or suggest is more than welcome. Invertzoo (talk) 21:17, 13 March 2009 (UTC)Reply

Pukeuria edit

This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Pukeuria, and it appears to include a substantial copy of http://rsnz.natlib.govt.nz/volume/rsnz_71/rsnz_71_01_001220.html. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. See our copyright policy for further details.

This message was placed automatically, and it is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article and it would be appreciated if you could drop a note on the maintainer's talk page. CorenSearchBot (talk) 15:28, 17 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

  A piece of Jimbo's star
For the hard work that Turbonilla has put into helping make WikiProject Gastropods as great as it is, I award you a nice-sized chunk of the barnstar that Jimbo gave us on Saturday July 25 2009 at Wiki-Conference New York. This piece of star has a diamond in it! Invertzoo (talk) 12:40, 26 July 2009 (UTC)Reply

Australian copyright law edit

Hello Turbonilla, Australian copyright law has changed twice in last 6 years so unfortunately Laseron's works are not public domain yet (Australian copyright law#Duration of copyright). I had to remove description of Eurathea. Invitation to help assess Wikipedia:WikiProject Gastropods edit

Hi. I am inviting members of some WikiProjects to take part in evaluating their projects in order to help the Wikimedia Foundation better understand such projects from the inside, to encourage reflection on best practices, and to compile a list of best practices as recommended by a number of projects. I am contacting you because you are listed as an active member of Wikipedia:WikiProject Gastropods. Having witnessed that project's work in the past in my volunteer capacity, I'd very much like to include it. I hope that you will have time and interest in participating. As much or as little as you would like to supply would be gratefully received. The assessment questions are posted at Wikipedia:WikiProject Gastropods/Self-assessment. I will myself steer clear of the page until after any discussion seems to have become dormant, at which point I will ask questions to make sure that I am developing a good overview of opinions. Thanks. --Maggie Dennis (WMF) (talk) 12:58, 7 September 2011 (UTC)Reply

Pyramidellidae edit

Hello, I noticed that are interested in mollusks in the Pyramidellidae family. I am currently working on creating stubs for around 1500 species in the family. The articles are listed at User:Ganeshbot/Animalia/History/Pyramidellidae. The is also discussion about this on the Gastropod project talk page. If you have some time to spare, it will be great if you could review the articles. We could use your expertise. Thanks. Ganeshk (talk) 16:45, 12 November 2011 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
