I am quite excited with working on Wikipedia whenever I have free time, it seems like such a worthwhile hobby to ensure that there is a reliable source of encyclopedic information easily accessible to the world at large!
Academics often say Wikipedia cannot be used as a reference on its own but I used the articles as a starting point for my research and used the references in many of the articles to find reliable sources that were also acceptable to my lecturers. Wikipedia played a big role in getting me through law school!!

Who knows though, one day it may reach a stage were it is perfectly fine to use Wikipedia as a reference on its own. Just one thing though. Disambiguation link notification for February 24 edit

Thanks for your feed back on my page creation: Articles for creation/Ramesh Sitaraman. I am not quite sure what your concerns are about notability of the subject.The references make it quite clear that Prof. Sitaraman is very notable for his research. As a computer science student myself, I know that he is one of the top researchers in the world in distributed systems. Notability for scientists is reflected in how society as a whole knows/references the work, what the impact has been on peoples thinking, what have they built, etc.
I added a whole bunch of neutral third party references to show notability. For example...
The NPR morning edition interview about some recent research of his. NPR Morning edition is the second largest radio program in the USA and broadcast in throughout the country with 10+ million listeners. They don't interview people who are not notable. They are absolutely third-party neutral of course with no connections with the subject or his employer.
The same goes for newspaper articles like Boston Globe which is major US news paper. Recently the research was in the front page of the newspaper. (Instant gratification article). They don't just write about something if it has not shedding new light on society. These are absolutely neutral evidence of notability.
Same with CNN. The fact that CNN quotes a university press release does not really matter. There are thousands of press releases about scientific work every day. But CNN picks only a few notable ones to write about. So, I am not sure about what point you are making there. In fact almost all research is first written up as a press release by the university. Only that people feel are important enough get picked up widely.
The early paper on content delivery networks is also notable (300+ citations on google scholar when I last looked).

- Hello CmpScience,
- I was not actually disputing Dr. Sitamaran's notability. Nor was I questioning the veracity of the sources, per say. I thought, the article could be improved by adding more scholarly sources, having said that, in hindsight I may have been too hasty in rejecting the article. If you like, I will review the article again more closely.

Just a quick note that I had redone some of the photo arrangements on the Sawana article to keep photos to the right or left so it does not spoil the flow of information. I think placing photos in the center does not add much value to the layout of the article Trabeta (talk) 13:34, 28 February 2013 (UTC)

See the comments I added to Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Josh Valdez. You can go ahead and decline the submission if you want to. If you plan on accepting it, you will need to get an administrator to un-protect the name. It may even be a good idea to go through a formal deletion review (see WP:AfD) to overturn the community consensus to protect the article from re-creation. My recommendation is a "weak" decline, but when this person clearly achieves notability, allowing creation of an article about him. davidwr/(talk)/(contribs)/(e-mail) 05:16, 2 March 2013 (UTC)

Installation Protocols and procedures and title folklore edit
Bula Tukutukudina, hope all is well, just thought if you had the time if you could write on the Roko Tui Bau title, the installation protocols and procedures for the title, I notice alot of chiefly title articles have not got the installation process and folklore histories, I am trying to add them where I have information and knowledge around, if you could help also it would be good.

New Challenge for Oceania and Australia edit
Hi, Wikipedia:WikiProject Oceania/The 10,000 Challenge and Wikipedia:WikiProject Australia/The 5000 Challenge are up and running based on Wikipedia:The 10,000 Challenge which has currently produced over 2300 article improvements and creations. The Australia challenge would feed into the wider region one and potentially New Zealand could have a smaller challenge too. The main goal is content improvement, tackling stale old stubs and important content and improving sourcing/making more consistent but new articles are also welcome if sourced. I understand that this is a big goal for regular editors, especially being summertime where you are, but if you'd like to see large scale quality improvements happening for Oceania and Australia like The Africa Destubathon, which has produced over 1700 articles in 5 weeks, sign up on the page. The idea will be an ongoing national editathon/challenge for the region but fuelled by a series of contests to really get articles on every province and subject mass improved. The Africa contest scaled worldwide would naturally provide great benefits to Oceania countries, particularly Australia and attract new editors. I would like some support from existing editors here to get the Challenges off to a start with some articles to make doing a Destubathon worthwhile and potentially bring about hundreds of improvements in a few weeks through a contest!
