Non-free rationale for File:Star trek starship creator.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Star trek starship creator.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Nomination of Red Box Design Group for deletion

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Red Box Design Group is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Red Box Design Group until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Tubular Bells 2009 alternate.jpg

Thank you for uploading File:Tubular Bells 2009 alternate.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.

If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you. — ξxplicit 02:00, 10 July 2012 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of Vikings (video game)

The article Vikings (video game) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

A search for references failed to find significant coverage in reliable sources to comply with notability requirements. This included web searches for news coverage, books, and journals, which can be seen from the following links:
Vikings (video game)news, books, scholar
Consequently, this article is about a subject that appears to lack sufficient notability.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Speedy deletion nomination of File:V Festival UK.png

A tag has been placed on File:V Festival UK.png requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the image is an unused redundant copy (all pixels the same or scaled down) of an image in the same file format, which is on Wikipedia (not on Commons), and all inward links have been updated.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines.   JaJaWa |talk  05:33, 24 February 2015 (UTC)

Virgin Money

Hallo TubularWorld, a great thank for your correction of my addition at Virgin Money. I haven't read to the end of the news :( --Markus Schulenburg (talk) 22:05, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

PS: In the The Telegraph[1] they wrote about £75 million for buying Virgin Money. And the Birmingham Post[2] wrote about £90 million. Have you an other references? --Markus Schulenburg (talk) 22:16, 15 January 2012 (UTC)

I should say thank you to you, as I would not have found that article myself. Thanks for pointing that out; Virgin Money state £90 million on their official website, so think that 90 would be correct. Danke. TubularWorld (talk) 23:45, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
I have checked all references for the german spoken Wikipedia. So I have founded this differences. If you want more references look at the article ;) All references are english writing. --Markus Schulenburg (talk) 01:16, 16 January 2012 (UTC)

Hi TubularWorld, spotted you've made some more amends to the Virgin Money page, to suggest it's HQ is in Edinburgh. This isn't correct, the business is registered in England, with it's HQ in Newcastle upon Tyne. There is an office in Edinburgh, however it's not the HQ. There has been some ambiguity about this in the media but it's definitely Newcastle. --Antony Simm, Virgin Money — Preceding undated comment added 09:09, 20 August 2014 (UTC)

Hi Antony. I am fully aware that the registered address is Jubilee House - in the past I have set that information in the infobox to Newcastle myself. My edit on the 19th August was simply in the non-user visible comment discussing the headquarters. The media is not responsible for the ambiguity about this a press release written by Virgin Money stated: "Virgin Money has today announced a deal making 28 St Andrew Square, one of Edinburgh’s most prestigious business addresses, its new Headquarters". The reason I put Edinburgh back in the comment is because of Virgin's statements about it being the "headquarters" - effectively scare quotes, indicating scepticism. Bond

Dear TubularWorld

I am currently working with the band Bond helping with social media etc. I am looking to edit some of the girls Wiki pages, in particular, I would like to edit the photographs of Elspeth Hanson and Gay-Yee Westerhoff. I understand you have been editing the girls photos so I would like to run this by you first. If you would like to change the photos yourself I can send you over the files.

Let me know what you think?

All the best — Preceding unsigned comment added by A1b2c8 (talkcontribs) 14:24, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

Hi, A1b2c8,
Welcome to Wikipedia, and hope you enjoy your time on the site, and feel free to edit the band's articles and images. One thing I must mention however is that Wikipedia do have rules around 'conflict of interest' editing, however as long as you just add verifiable facts and don't word things like adverts or add bias it should be fine. This article explains all the do's and don't's - Wikipedia:Plain and simple conflict of interest guide.
The photos that I added to their articles a few years ago were taken with a terrible camera, so if you have access to better images, go for it. If you need any help uploading the images for use on Wikipedia let me know. As Wikipedia aims to be a free-content encyclopaedia, it is usually advised to use non-copyrighted images wherever possible. Again, if you want to read all the advice this should be a useful link - Wikipedia:Image use policy.
If you have any other questions or need any help, just let me know. Thanks, TubularWorld (talk) 20:04, 22 October 2012 (UTC)

Fool for Love (Tara Blaise song)

Hello, thanks for creating this article. It's been unreferenced for years now, and is tagged for notability, as not meeting WP:NSONGS. Could you please look it over and see if you can help? Boleyn (talk) 17:53, 20 February 2013 (UTC)

Virgin Home Energy

A tag has been placed on Virgin Home Energy, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect to a nonexistent page, or a redirect loop.

If you can fix this redirect to point to an existing Wikipedia page, please do so and remove the speedy deletion tag. However, please do not remove the speedy deletion tag unless you also fix the redirect. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. - Camyoung54 talk 02:28, 5 May 2013 (UTC)

My Company is intersted to be listed in Wikipedia

Hi TubularWorld

My Company is interested to be listed in Wikipedia. Appreciate if you can advise us the steps to achieve this goal.

Thanks

Welcome to Wikipedia. Wikipedia has a guide for writing your first article which is a good place to start. I would suggest that you only write an article for your company if it is clearly notable enough to be in an encyclopaedia and has verifiable external sources of information. Also, as you refer to this as 'my company' it would be wise to read the guide for conflicts of interest Thanks, and enjoy your time on the site. TubularWorld (talk) 16:39, 12 September 2013 (UTC)

Proposed deletion of I Cry Myself to Sleep at Night

The article I Cry Myself to Sleep at Night has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

No references, no claim of notability, fails WP:NSONG and WP:GNG.

Deletion discussion about Holly Turner

Hello, TubularWorld,

I wanted to let you know that there's a discussion about whether Holly Turner should be deleted. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Holly Turner .

If you're new to the process, articles for deletion is a group discussion (not a vote!) that usually lasts seven days. If you need it, there is a guide on how to contribute. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

Thanks, scope_creep 08:56, 22 September 2015 (UTC)

Harrods Bank

Hi

I've managed to get the Harrods Bank logo updated on page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Harrods_Bank

What happens with the logo you uploaded some time ago as it still displays in certain places https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Harrods_Bank.png#filelinks

Thanks — Preceding unsigned comment added by Churchlanecons (talkcontribs) 17:29, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

Any external websites that have cached the old logo that appears on the Wikipedia article will be refreshed whenever that site takes a new cache of Wikipedia - there is no way to control that. On Wikipedia itself the File usage states "No pages on the English Wikipedia link to this file."
The old logo will be deleted from Wikipedia 7 days after it has been marked as unused. Best practice on Wikipedia is to use PNG format images for graphical logos, the old image was PNG, the new is JPEG - its not really a problem, but if a PNG (or SVG image for applicable logos) is available for the new logo it should be used. TubularWorld (talk) 18:36, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
Actually, I've converted it from a fair use image to a {{PD-logo}} image, as I believe it's pretty clearly below the threshold of originality. Since it's not tagged as a non-free image anymore, it won't be tagged as orphaned and there's no need to automatically delete it after 7 days. The logo might serve a historical purpose, so I'm not going to take it to WP:FFD. If someone disagrees, they could. Cheers, Nick—Contact/Contribs 21:23, 14 October 2015 (UTC)
On second thought, after uploading this on Commons, I realized that because this bank is based in the UK, the file cannot be hosted on Commons. It is below the threshold of originality in the USA, but not in the UK. So, I've requested deletion of the file on Commons, converted the file to png format, and uploaded it as a new version of the file at File:Harrods Bank.png. I've now tagged it as {{PD-ineligible-USonly}}. This should be the best of both worlds. The new logo is used in the article, and the old logo is preserved in the file history should we ever need it for historical purposes. --Nick—Contact/Contribs 22:25, 14 October 2015 (UTC)

ArbCom elections are now open!

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
