Political deletes and reverts

Currently |Ism schism and | Wikidas (sockpuppets?) are removing any reference to purebhakti and Sri Narayana Maharaja on a matter of personal political vendenta against me and Him. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Nabadwip&curid=5803025&diff=229097495&oldid=228226599 http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Bhaktivinoda_Thakur&curid=1931074&diff=229097413&oldid=228227088 http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Gaura-purnima&curid=16717807&diff=229097328&oldid=228227263 http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Gaudiya_Vaishnavism&curid=1064157&action=history Can you help?Syama (talk) 05:32, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Hello Shruti14, just an FYI, the "pure bhakti" mentioned above is www.purebhakti.com - this is what is specifically being removed, as it is not a notable website. If by mistake, this really is a reliable source, then I will correct my edits, but I believe this website to be no different than any other personal website. I believe that it is not a reliable source to be used in general articles on religion, such as [1] where Syamadas linked a advertisement for selling books. Thanks. Ism schism (talk) 12:44, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

One I did not link to a page SELLING books but to a page where you can download the book for free. Secondly if purebhakti.com is not "notable" than neither is |ISKCON.com and all links to it should be removed.Syama (talk) 15:21, 1 August 2008 (UTC)

Hello Shruti, I think we all know that Wikipedia is often used by different types of spam boots or people who add rather not very notable weblinks with idea of advertisement or promotion. I suggest that this particular website is of this kind, since even the name of it is POV as far as I am concern. But I welcome Shruti with her impartial glance on this issue. Note that i do not have any conflict with this particular editor, I just do not think that this particular site is a reliable source of information or not a promotional site. Thanks and apology for invading your space. Wikidās ॐ 16:19, 1 August 2008 (UTC)
I have explained on Syama's talk page why the particular pages used from the purebhakti website were not the best choices as reliable sources. I hope my explanation was clear and accurate. --Shruti14 t c s 03:04, 2 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi Shruti, my name is Shruti. Hey I honestly dont know anything about this can you explain me. Thank you very much —Preceding unsigned comment added by 61.68.230.253 (talk) 21:39, 27 August 2008 (UTC)

Hi Shruti, nice to know someone who shares my name :) The welcome message should have some links that will help you get started. I highly recommend that you create an account (just click on the link at the top right) so that other editors can see your work and communicate with you more effectively. It's really simple and takes little time. If you have any questions, you can ask me or any other editor on their talk page, and we'll be happy to help. Good luck! --Shruti14 talksign 00:47, 1 September 2008 (UTC)

Around the World, update...

We've been hard at work behind the scenes. We can't seem to get the trophy right, but we'll get there. And the set of pages need one more section completed before they can be moved to article space...

... that's right! We're almost ready to move the whole set into the live encyclopedia. One page for every country of the world!

We're currently developing the standard for these outlines, they're overall format and what they should look like.

One page that is nearly complete and built to the current standard is List of basic Thailand topics. Please take a look, and help us put the finishing touches on it if you have the time. It will be an example (along with List of basic Japan topics and List of basic France topics) for those working on the rest of the lists, and therefore is pretty important.

Any help or input you could provide would be most appreciated.

Thank you.

Notice to Indian Wikipedians
HELLO TrulyShruti/Archive 4 Please save Pakistan occupied Kashmir article from deletion. The article has been hijacked by Wikipedians of Pakistani origin who are demanding its deletion. Remember, once deleted its gonna be extremely hard to recreate it. This is not a wasted attempt because all claims in the article are well sourced. Please consider the following:

1. Pakistan-occupied-Kashmir is the term used by the Indian government, and for legal reasons followed by the media and Indian publishers

2. The term is POV on Wikipedia, but it is real, because it exists, and cannot be *deleted* away.

3. Redirecting PoK to Azad Kashmir is not the solution. Geographically, Azad Kashmir is a small region of the area labelled as PoK. Therefore, territorially speaking, it is inherently false.

4. Additionally, the term Azad, which means free, is also a POV. Free in what sense? From Indian administration?

5. As a responsible encyclopedia, it is our responsibility to mention what the term means, the area under it, who has dubbed the name, usage of the name, the reasons why it is called, and legal usage in India, Pakistan, and major countries/groups. The page should not be more than two-three paragraphs long, and must point to the articles on Jammu and Kashmir, Kashmir, the Kashmir dispute, Azad Kashmir, and FANA.

Wikipedians of Pakistani origin want this removed and replaced with just the Azad Kashmir and Northern Areas article because it speaks the truth. Anybody with an account can vote. If none please create one right away and vote for keep.

PLEASE DELETE THIS MESSAGE BEFORE VOTING. a similar warning is on wp:india page

Please oppose the page to be deleted. It is requested by Pro Pakistani Wikipedians who want all trace of it to be vanished. Do so immediately!. Key in keep followed by reason.

Version 0.7 reviewing

Hi Shruti, I see that you've signed up for the 1.0 review team. We need your help right now, because we had around 70 nominations last week! As you probably know, Version 0.7 is coming out soon, mainly based on the bot selection. This relieves us of the burden of manually assessing 30,000 articles, but we need the manual system to catch the articles that might "fall through the cracks" - such as a couple of missing provinces needed to complete a set. If you're no longer interested in reviewing, please can you remove your name from the list of reviewers?

You should consult the criteria and the FAQs, but I would suggest that most manual nominations of B-Class articles or higher are expected to pass, unless they are fairly obscure. You can get a good sense of the importance by looking at the article in the bot's list (check the talk page to find which projects have tagged it); an importance score (excluding quality) of <700 indicates that the article is probably too obscure, unless it is needed to complete a useful set (e.g., all the counties of England). I take the view that if someone who is knowledgeable on the topic spends the time to nominate the article, it is likely to be OK, but just occasionally people try to argue for an obscure or poor-quality article.

So, are you able to help? Many thanks, Walkerma (talk) 05:00, 22 September 2008 (UTC)

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Bronze award.gif)

Thanks for uploading Image:Bronze award.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 15:39, 3 October 2008 (UTC)

Spam in Yahoo! Go

Hello, this is a message from an automated bot. A tag has been placed on Yahoo! Go, by another Wikipedia user, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. The tag claims that it should be speedily deleted because Yahoo! Go is blatant advertising for a company, product, group, service or person that would require a substantial rewrite in order to become an encyclopedia article.

To contest the tagging and request that administrators wait before possibly deleting Yahoo! Go, please affix the template {{hangon}} to the page, and put a note on its talk page. If the article has already been deleted, see the advice and instructions at WP:WMD. Feel free to contact the bot operator if you have any questions about this or any problems with this bot, bearing in mind that this bot is only informing you of the nomination for speedy deletion; it does not perform any nominations or deletions itself. Country outlines project update - 2009/03/08

Remember "Around the World"?

Well, we've been around the World, and around again (virtually speaking, on Wikipedia), on this project.

Things have been slowing down again, so it's time for a big push...

We've gone live

This project needed a shot in the arm. Also, its draft pages have been littering Wikipedia's categories for months. The time seemed right to move all the country outline drafts to article space.

WHAT???

Well, the drafts had been sitting in Wikipedia space for a year.

WHAT???

Development has been moving at a snail's pace and we could use the help of the Wikipedia community at large (who are more likely to find these if they are in article space).

WHAT???

Yes, we've gone live.  :)

This puts pressure on us to get the blatantly incomplete elements of these outlines done. The only glaring problem is the government branches sections. These need to be corrected ASAP.

I've mentioned THE GOVERNMENT BRANCHES SECTIONS many times to many people over the past year, but the problem just doesn't seem to have been taken seriously. So let me put it another way:

HELP!!! I need your help on this now. Almost all the countries have a government with an executive branch, a legislative branch, and a judicial branch. The links for these branches need to be completed for each country outline:

Here's a convenient list you can use WP:LINKY on to access and edit these quickly. Please copy the list's link to the top of your talk page so that you can access it easily.

If you spot any standardization in links, and ways we can automate parts of this process, or for groups of countries that have links in common, please let me know!

Administrative support for outlines

There has been growing pressure on me to write up the administrative pages for outlines - their instructions, guidelines, etc. Therefore, I'm now in the process of composing these. Fortunately, it is mostly a matter of gathering material from messages I've written to you guys over the past year. Still, this is taking up most of my time, and I will be buried in these for the foreseeable future.

Traffic control

The next big task after the government branches sections are cleaned up is link support for the outlines.

There's quite a list of links and notices that need to be put in place around Wikipedia, providing access to them to readers, and alerting editors to the need to develop and maintain these pages. This will keep our bot people very busy (and happy).

But the most important thing right now is to get the government branches sections completed. So please, put your bots aside, roll up your shirt sleeves, and start typing.

Thank you.

Hi Shruti,

I am Dr. Dinesh J. Karia, working with the Department of Mathematics, Sardar Patel University as a Reader in Mathematics. In some leisure time, I do contribute to Wikipedia. Today while adding hee missing information in the infobox of Narendra Modi (For example, He is the 14th Chief Minister of Gujarat, his term_start, etc.), I browsed through wikipedia for getting myself acquainted how to edit infoboxes for example, I visited [page] and [[2]]. Then I edited the above mentioned one. But the result is not formated properly. Could you please help? Dineshjk (talk) 12:25, 8 March 2009 (UTC)

Thanks

Dear Shruti, Thanks for your message. I could solve the problem after putting the }}helpme{{ on my talk page. Well, I am slowly learning advanced editing tools and may need the help of experts like you. I am sure I can bank upon people like you. At present, I want to include the link to my talk page and sign links as a part of my signature. Could you please help how should I do that? Thanks in advance.

BTW as a link to the above word message I typed [[User_talk:Dineshjk#Infobox|message]] but it takes to my talk page but not to the position where you have typed your message on my page. Have I made any mistake in the syntax of link?

New image project

Hi. This little form letter is just a courtesy notice to let you know that a proposal to merge the projects Wikipedia:WikiProject Free images, Wikipedia:WikiProject Fair use, Wikipedia:WikiProject Moving free images to Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia:WikiProject Illustration into the newly formed Wikipedia:WikiProject Images and Media has met with general support at Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Proposals/Files. Since you're on the rosters of membership in at least one of those projects, I thought you might be interested. Conversation about redirecting those projects is located here. Please participate in that discussion if you have any interest, and if you still have interest in achieving the goals of the original project, we'd love to have you join in. If you aren't interested in either the conversation or the project, please pardon the interruption. :) Thanks. Moonriddengirl (talk) 17:02, 23 April 2009 (UTC)
