Proposed deletion of Lee Simpson edit

The article Lee Simpson has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.

If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. References edit

Well, that's a start... However, what we really need is outside reliable references. Comedystore is too close to the subject, and IMDb is not regarded here as a reliable source because it relies on info supplied by the subject. Have a look at WP:RS to see what counts and doesn't. Peridon (talk) 12:09, 29 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Sorry, but DO look at WP:RS. Improbable doesn't count as it's an in-house profile; similarly, the comedystore ones are not independent. You need something like press reviews, critic reports, and so on. It mustn't be editable - IMDb and Wikipedia are examples of sources not considered reliable for this purpose. Blogs and forums can give info - but are not really suitable in the vast majority of cases as they could be by anyone - including the subject... Press releases are out, for obvious reasons. It may seem like a lot of fuss over little, but we have to be careful about possibly libellous material. This article doesn't look possibly libellous, but the rule for BLPs (Biographies of Living People) still apply. And for any article, a degree of notability has to be shown, or I could put up an article about my career as a coach-park attendant. (Aged 14, and lasted two hours while the chap on duty went to the pub for his lunch...) An extreme example, but I hope you get the point. Peridon (talk) 13:03, 29 September 2010 (UTC)Reply

Proposed deletion of Genevieve Aisbett edit

The article Genevieve Aisbett has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Can find no evidence that any such scholar exists, and there is no such institution as the "Australian Federal University."

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{dated prod}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. 98.122.178.110 (talk) 00:05, 30 September 2010 (UTC)Reply
