What if we would like to create for example a hungarian Signpost? NCurse work 17:04, 31 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sure, it's not as big though, so you need to tell me, Treebark, or Kpjas, and we will make arangements. I'm in for Treebark until he gets his computer acsess back. Carmelapple 18:35, 31 July 2006 (UTC)Reply
Now, I'm recruiting editors on hunwiki. When enough people are ready to work, I'll let you know. Thanks. NCurse work 12:23, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
I've listed the Hungarian Wikipedia for Spetember 18. Carmelapple 15:42, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sept 18, as I can see. Thanks! :) NCurse work 19:06, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Yes. Sorry for that error. Please tell me who will be writing the story for the Hungarian Wikipedia or you can just list there names as we did at here. Carmelapple 21:19, 1 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Would it be possible to cover the Danish wikipedia? It is not very big, but I'm sure I, and other fellow wikipedians could write a nice article! 80.165.43.22 11:41, 6 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Sorry I forgot to log in, but I wrote the preceding post Snailwalker | talk 11:42, 6 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sure, get a group of people to together and you guys can write the article. Were going to schedule it for October 16. Carmelapple 14:24, 7 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Sorry about the late reply, but I'm in Mexico right now, but I'll start working on it when I get home!

THE edit

"The German Wikipedia - Elian July 31; The Polish Wikipedia... "

The THE is important? NCurse   work 14:39, 7 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
No it is not important, but I don't see any reason why to remove the "The." Carmelapple 02:46, 8 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Because in the last four cases there is no THE; and because I think it is unnecessary to put this before every Wikipedia name... NCurse   work 06:49, 8 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Well, I was in a hurry when I did this; and when we added Hungarin and Danish in the middle, it might have changed so there was no "the" I'm removing it now. Carmelapple 13:40, 8 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

Add request - for Bengali wikipedia edit

Could you please add the Bengali Wikipedia (bn) to the schedule? Thanks. --Ragib 14:30, 20 August 2006 (UTC)Reply

PS, I can prepare the report when it's due. --Ragib 14:30, 20 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
I don't think we should have this report. Were trying to do a cycle of wikipedias that are big, not small. I have allowed some small ones in recently including Hungarian, and Danish but this one, many people do not have a clue to speak. (It was even tough trying to find out how many articles there are) There are more than 2,000 and that's to small. I welcome more input from the community, add your comments below here. However, we may add sentences at the bottom of the big reports about the smaller languages. I'm not sure what we should have in the report- I know you'd do a great job; but I can't find any media; nothing... ForestH2 t/c 13:43, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
If you look at User_talk:Jimbo_Wales#Status_of_the_Bengali_Wikipedia you'll see the nucleus of such an article. I thought it was really interesting, and it isn't as if the Signpost has a limit on number of pages. Perhaps we could have a Signpost article dealing with several smaller Wikipedias at once.-gadfium 19:31, 22 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Good idea. You know- have them combined in one article. ForestH2 t/c 00:09, 23 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Bengali language is the 4th largest in terms of native speakers, and in terms of total speakers, it is the 7th or 8th largest language in the world. I'm mentioning this because Jimbo specifically mentioned his interest in Bengali wikipedia during his wikimania speech. :).
Anyway, as mentioned by gadfium above, I have put up a small report in Jimbo's talk page, and our article count is right now 4925, and fast approaching 5000. Bengali wikipedia needs unicode font support, as does all non-latin wikipedias, and hence these may not be viewable by people with only western language support enabled (which is a Microsoft setting ... most newer versions of Linux come pre-installed with Bangla support).
I understand that there are many larger wikipedias ahead of Bengali wikipedia. That's fine ... but looking several months into the future, when the schedule permits, please let me know. Also, if you are doing a multiple smaller wikipedia-report, please do consider bn. The rate of increase is about 1000 articles per 3 weeks, and it will definitely be among the top 30 soon. Thanks. --Ragib 04:03, 24 August 2006 (UTC)Reply
Oh the other hand, I thought about it and go ahead....I don't know what day the report will be published but we'll do a report. ForestH2 t/c 22:39, 3 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Thank you. Bengali wikipedia just crossed 8000 pages to come into the 51st rank, and fast moving into the top 50. When you schedule a report, plesae drop me a note. Thanks again. --Ragib 23:36, 3 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
Now let's see...we'll do it for October 23 or whenever that Monday is. ForestH2 t/c

Please add this to the table. Thanks. --Ragib 20:35, 7 September 2006 (UTC)Reply
