image deletion edit

I noticed you nominated for deletion on Images for Deleteion your own upload. In future, you are able to apply the {{db-author}} tag to the image page of uploads you have contributed. I have applied it to the Ron&fez image for you with an appropriate edit summary; it is always better to have the author apply the author speedy tag. If there are any questions, please drop me a note on my talk page.--Gay Cdn (talk) (Contr.) 20:03, 5 November 2006 (UTC)Reply

Flagicons edit

I noticed your revert of my flagicon removals from Talk Radio (XM) and ESPN Xtra. I also noticed that you added flagicons to XM Sports Nation. I am not sure if you read the link instead of just the description of the header but if it is the former I suggest you read it, Wikipedia:Manual of Style (flags)#Help the reader rather than decorate.

On these pages the flagicons were put into an infobox that is set up to put a wikilink of the country next to the flag. In these cases the flagicons added nothing of encyclopedic value because the name of the country is next to the flag and are merely being used as decoration therefore not being helpful to the reader. Aspects (talk) 14:30, 15 March 2008 (UTC)Reply

I have read the link before changing the page. Once again, I state, who decides what helps and what does not. People may not know the country but understand where the flag represents what area of stated coverage. Therefore, there is an encyclopedic value to help the reader identity what is being covered. It is always better to give more clues to the reader than less to help them understand what is being discussed. TravKoolBreeze (talk) 16:50, 16 March 2008 (UTC)Reply
Per Wikipedia:Manual of Style (flags)#Help the reader rather than decorate, "Adding a country's flag next to its name does not provide additional encyclopedic information..." As to who decides what helps and what does not help, the answer is all the editors on Wikipedia. The editors at Template:Infobox_Radio_Station determined that having just the flagicon in the infobox was not helpful enough so they set the field to added the name of the country with the flagicon. The editors at Wikipedia:Manual of Style (flags) decided that having a country's flagicon next to its name does not provide additional encyclopedic information. Unecyclopedic information has no place in Wikipedia, therefore in these cases the flagicons should be deleted. Aspects (talk) 19:43, 4 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
Once again, I have noted that I have read the ruling. As for the editors on the Template:Infobox_Radio_Station, there was no discussion onto which if a flagicon was to used or not. Therefore, it is purely assumption that you have stated that they did not rule this in. Once again, from the eye of the user, a flag is more identifiable than the country name for people who are not of that native country or just learning about that country. Thus there ecyclopedic information to the topic. Unecyclopedic information is in the eye of the user and not a black and white defining topic, like many rulings on this site; therefore, will be judged on a case by case topic by me as such until this account is shut down.
TravKoolBreeze (talk) 20:51, 4 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
I did not state that the editors on Template:Infobox_Radio_Station discussed it or ruled on it. I said they determined it because the infobox has been set up to add the name of the country whenever the flagicon is added to the template. Because no one has yet discussed it in the talk page of the template, they agree with the way the infobox is set up. In these cases, the flagicons add nothing of encyclopedic value when placed next to the name of the country. I have a problem with you saying the articles should be "judged on a case by case topic" when Wikipedia:Manual of Style (flags) states that decorative flagicons that add no encyclopedic value should not be used in any case and you seem to be adding them in all cases. Aspects (talk) 21:01, 11 April 2008 (UTC)Reply
If they have set up the Template:Infobox_Radio_Station to add the name, then they must have no problem to keep the flag icon out and see it as helpful information.
I'm sorry you have a problem with my statement, yet this is how I feel and have stated repeatedly that I do not agree with the ruling. I do not see adding the flag as decoration for I do not just add the flag anywhere within the article. Thus the statement of a case by case topic where it is used in only one place (infobox). My opinion will not change on whether or not they are encyclopedic for I am looking at the article in the mind of the user and more information is always helpful. (Majored in Information Techolnogy)

XM channels edit

Did I save you any work?

I don't have a job so I had the time to check the various lists of XM and Sirius channels and the articles about those channels on Thursday. I wasn't even aware the merger had just happened, but after reading about XM keeping what would be my two favorite XM channels if I had spent the money, I got concerned that the old channels might not still be listed. That turned into a major project when I saw how much was outdated or incorrect, but obviously there was still lots more to do even after what I did. We appreciate your efforts. It might have been nice if I had known, then I could have spent the afternoon on other projects. Vchimpanzee · talk · contributions · 19:13, 15 November 2008 (UTC)Reply

Edit War notice edit

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on XM Satellite Radio channel history. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. TravKoolBreeze (talk) 23:34, 12 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

User attacks edit

Travis: You have accused me of being a vandal. I haven't viewed or altered the referenced article in over a month. I have made a total of two changes, including the edit upon which you based your accusation.

In reviewing the article history I see you have attacked another editor for making the same correction and continue to reverse the correction despite the inaccuracy. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.231.8.142 (talk) 02:11, 30 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

Based on the way that both you and another person have talked in relation to the article at hand, it is easy to assume that both of you are the same person in which the IP address may be used in two different places.
Furthermore, as addressed in the talk article, another register user and I have both stated the same shared point. However, there has been no futher discussion or reaching out by you or the other IP user to ask for more register users to discuss. It is interesting that even though I asked for more discussion once the page was protected, the page was reverted after the protection was dropped without any discussion. TravKoolBreeze (talk) 02:23, 30 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
I don't live on Wikipedia and my unregistered status should have no bearing on Wikipedia accuracy (the underlying concept of Wiki is community contribution). Reading the discussion pages it's clear that there has been a lot of back and forth about the correction, albeit from only two people. One comment from a third party isn't much to fall back on in defending a "majority." How is one expected to "reach out" for discussion? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.231.8.142 (talk) 14:54, 30 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Again, by the way that you have discussed here, on the talk page of the article, and with the article itself, it could be determined that you and the other IP user are one in the same. Futhermore, your simple comment that you left on the page does not help as you would have your own stance in the issue and not just say i agree with the point. Interesting enought, both you and said IP user only decide to work on one article.TravKoolBreeze (talk) 18:13, 30 April 2009 (UTC)Reply
Also, if you are a different user, you may want to look at WP:PNSD. TravKoolBreeze (talk) 18:30, 30 April 2009 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
