Hi, Towerblocktom, and Welcome to Wikipedia!

Welcome to Wikipedia! I hope you enjoy the encyclopedia and want to stay. Before getting too in-depth, you may want to read the simplified ruleset. If you need help, feel free to use any of Wikipedia's hundreds of resources. I personally recommend the Wikipedia:Boot Camp, where in addition to standard posts, you can use an IRC to chat online with fellow Wikipedians willing to help! In addition, Wikipedia also has pages dedicated to the use of Wikipedia, for example, if you need help on how to title new articles check out the naming conventions, and for help on formatting pages visit the manual of style. Feel free to post questions on my talk page - I'm happy to help you with anything you need.

Peterborough edit

yes, 1967 is some time after WW2, but the whole new Town movement came out of the post-war rebuilding process so it is worht linking the events together. Also the first reference is in the lead of the article which is designed to give a broad overview fo the subject, without getting bogged down in details, the specific date is given further on in the article. Please refrain from undoing other people's edits repeatedly, as you are doing in Peterborough. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing Wikipedia. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions in a content dispute within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. Rather than reverting, discuss disputed changes on the talk page. The revision you want is not going to be implemented by edit warring. Thank you. 81.76.40.119 11:42, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

You have been reported for breach of the three-revert rule. 81.76.40.119 12:44, 9 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

License tagging for Image:Malborne.jpg edit

Thanks for uploading Image:Malborne.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 12:07, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Something you maybe interested in edit

Hey towerblocktom! I assumed from your username that you may like tower blocks or postwar modern housing in general. I set up a wiki not long ago hoping to catalogue every interwar and postwar housing estate, tower block and everything related to these in the UK. ukhousing.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page is the website if you want to join and contribute! Thanks - Erebus555 14:37, 3 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Hi Erebus555, thanks for recommending this Wiki, I am indeed interested in this subject and live in a Salford Tower block myself. I notice that many of the tower blocks listed as in Manchester are in fact in Salford (seperate city) so I will reassign the articles if you know the best way of doing that?
I have changed some articles to Salford although as I live in Birmingham it's too difficult for me to tell which is Manc and which is in Salford. The best thing to do is change everything in the article that says Manchester and replace it with Salford. So if it says [[Manchester]] put [[Salford]] and do the same in the categories at the bottom of the page. All help would be appreciated! - Erebus555 15:08, 3 September 2007 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion of Blackfriars, Salford edit

A tag has been placed on Blackfriars, Salford requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, "See also" section, book reference, category tag, template tag, interwiki link, rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that a copy be emailed to you. TrulyBlue (talk) 19:10, 22 April 2008 (UTC)Reply

File copyright problem with File:Crosby Sunset.jpg edit

Thank you for uploading File:Crosby Sunset.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the file. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their license and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log.

If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Theleftorium (talk) 11:13, 23 May 2010 (UTC)Reply

ArbCom elections are now open! edit

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
