Recent changes

when you click on the recent changes link on the navigation bar thing, you see the list of edits with a number next to it, like (+55) (-334) (+25500). I was wondering what that signified. TommyMoullet 19:52, 19 January 2007 (UTC)

how to get rid of vandalism...

how do you revert a page that has been vandalized to a previous unvandalized version of the page?

the page in question is the page you get when you type 'Tommy' into the search box. TommyMoullet 18:12, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

Go to the history, click on the date of the last nonvandalised version, click 'edit this page', and save it. You can also click on 'diff' for a vandalising edit, then on 'undo'. See Help:Reverting for fuller instructions. --ais523 18:14, 9 February 2007 (UTC)

creating Infoboxes

What is the best way to create an infobox of which no template exists? It there a way to make one without using a template? Thanks for your help, TommyMoullet 16:50, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

It's recommended that you use a template when putting an infobox in an article to make it easier for editors to understand (see a list here: Special:Prefixindex/Template:Infobox). If you can't find an appropriate one, you can make one by modifying an existing infobox template and making a new template. Also see Help:Infobox. Hope that helps! --ais523 16:57, 2 March 2007 (UTC)

Watchlist problems...

When I click "watch" on an article, it isn't being added to my watchlist. This is a problem that has only happend recently on a single page, as I have sucessfully added pages to my watchlist in the past. Any help would be great. TommyMoullet 22:49, 5 April 2007 (UTC)

helpme how to label a bad article as such

while I was looking around wikipedia I found this article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Monoboard. Most of the links are broken, it isn't written as an encyclopedia article, a few spelling errors, was created and writted entirely by unregistered accounts, and it seems almost like an advertisement. I was wondering how to label an article like this one as "needs to be re-done" or "AfD".

Most often, edit it! make it fit the norms for that article. You could also add a {{cleanup}} tag. If it does not appear to be a salvagable article, nominate it for deletion, or tag it for speedy deletion. Thanks for the question. -M^ask? 18:23, 20 April 2007 (UTC)

Wake up! Wake up to a happy day! Says Tom Peterson. Greetings to the gang at WP:ORE, its time for another round of Collaboration of the Week. Last week was a very successful endeavor with great improvement to Oregon Swallowtail and Deuce Biglow Canyon Wind Farm. OK, so there’s no “e” but it makes me laugh. The Biglow production was so successful we got our first DYK out of it. So, let’s try for a second with the tallest building in the state, the Wells Fargo Center. Clown COTW

Greetings once again to members of the best encyclopedia online about Oregon (aka WP:ORE)! Last week we improved Neil Goldschmidt to close to GA level, and moved the Wells Fargo Center from Stub to Start for the Collaboration of the Week. This week we’re clowning around with some bozo from Oregon, Pinto Colvig, and then in an attempt to garner another DYK, the rather stubby Cooper Spur. As always, any contribution is appreciated, and to opt out of these messages visit here.

As we have quite a few new members over the last six months, I’ll make another pitch for our various subprojects. Listed here, you will find a variety of groups focused on specific areas of Oregon from transportation to culture. Wiki Loves Pride

You are invited! Wiki Loves Pride

You are invited to participate in Wiki Loves Pride, a global campaign to create and improve LGBT-related content at Wikipedia during the month of June, culminating with a multinational edit-a-thon on June 21. The project is being spearheaded by two organizers with roots in the Pacific Northwest. Meetups are being organized in some cities, or you can participate remotely. Wikimedia Commons will also be hosting an LGBT-related photo challenge. In Portland, there are two ways to contribute. One is a photography campaign called "Pride PDX", for pictures related to LGBT culture and history. The Wiki Loves Pride edit-a-thon will be held on Saturday, June 21 from noon–4pm at Smith Memorial Student Union, Room 236 at Portland State University. International Women's Day Wikipedia Edit-a-thon, Oregon Jewish Museum, Thursday, March 7

The Oregon Jewish Museum and Center for Holocaust Education, in partnership with social practice artist Shoshana Gugenheim and as part of the Art+Feminism Project, will host the 2nd Annual International Women's Day Wikipedia Edit-a-thon to edit and/or create Wikipedia articles for Jewish women artists. The event will be held at the museum on Thursday, March 7 from 4 to 8 pm. Pre-registration is preferred but not required. Members of the public are invited to come to the museum to learn about the editing process, its history, its impact, and how to do it. We aim to collaboratively edit/enter 18 Jewish women artists into the canon. Support will be provided by an experienced local Wikipedian who will be on site to teach and guide the process. This edit-a-thon will serve as both a public art action and a public educational program. Participants will have an opportunity to select an artist/s ahead of time or on site.

Portland Art+Feminism Edit-a-thon: March 12, 2022

You are invited! An Art+Feminism Wikipedia edit-a-thon will be held in Portland, Oregon, on March 12, 2022. Learn more here!

Wikipedia is one of the most-visited sites on the internet—and it’s created by people who volunteer their time to write and edit pages. Learn how to edit Wikipedia and be a part of shaping our understanding of our world. In this workshop, volunteer Wikipedia editors will be on hand to train participants on how to get started editing pages and offer ideas for which pages you can pitch in to help improve. Show up at any point during the four hours to get started!

Also: Free burritos!! We will be providing vegan, vegetarian, and meat burritos from food cart Loncheria Las Mayos. Alder Commons has a large, fenced playground. Children are welcome! Some computers will be available to borrow, but if you have a laptop, please bring it to use. We will also be leading an online training for new editors at 11am-12pm PST. Please feel free to join that training if you are not able to show up IRL.
