M5 Half-track (APC) article name

I am just requesting if I could move your article M5 Half-track (APC) to M5 Half-track, as the "(APC)" element of the title is superfluous, and since you've made an article for the M5 now, the old redirect to the M3 article can be overwritten.– Nohomers48 (talkcontribs) 22:10, 19 December 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for asking! I accept that change. I had a naming mistake when I changed it into a article. Tomandjerry211 (talk) 22:29, 19 December 2014 (UTC)
Alright, well I tried to move the article, but it turns out that since the "M5 Half-track" article is already taken, what I have had to do is put it into Wikipedia:Requested moves/Technical requests to move the existing article over the top of the old redirect. Unfortunately one isn't allowed to just copy and paste the existing content onto an already existing article either.– Nohomers48 (talkcontribs) 22:42, 19 December 2014 (UTC)
Well, I didn't expect the process to turn into a 6 week stalemate, but they've finally moved the article. Hallelujah! And sorry for the all that trouble, I really hadn't expected it to really be as bureacratic as that.– Nohomers48 (talkcontribs) 22:08, 4 February 2015 (UTC)
Thank you for moving the article, Nohomers48! It was no trouble at all. Cheers, Tomandjerry211 (talk) 22:16, 4 February 2015 (UTC)

Invitation to join Milhist

A-class nomination

G'day! I'm one of the Milhist coordinators, Peacemaker67 (but I usually go by Peacemaker or PM). I had a quick look at your nomination of M14 Half-track for Milhist A-class review, and it really isn't ready for that as yet. My assessment is that it is currently Milhist Start-class. Our Wikiproject guidelines ask that all assessments above C-class are done by an editor who has not been involved in the writing of the article. Can I suggest you find references for the uncited parts of the article, and add some more detail? Then you might like to ask for a re-assessment and some suggested improvements at WP:MHAR. Good luck, and I hope you choose to join us. Regards, Peacemaker67 (crack... thump) 13:15, 26 December 2014 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't now that fact. Tomandjerry211 (talk) 15:52, 26 December 2014 (UTC)

No problem at all, happy to help at any time if you are not sure about anything, or just want to get some advice. It can all be a bit daunting when you start editing. Regards, Peacemaker67 (crack... thump) 23:07, 26 December 2014 (UTC)
Hi, if you want to get a feel for the coverage needed for an A-class article on a weapon type, Ordnance QF 25-pounder Short might be of interest (though - rather immodestly given that I've written most of the article - I think that it's probably close to featured article status). Regards, Nick-D (talk) 23:28, 26 December 2014 (UTC)

Welcome to Milhist!

File permission problem with File:M15 Half track.jpg

Thanks for uploading File:M15 Half track.jpg, which you've attributed to http://svsm.org/gallery/M15/DSC00372. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read the Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Eeekster (talk) 19:49, 28 December 2014 (UTC)

M13 Halftrack

You'll see on the assessment request page and the article talk page that I believe that any article on American military equipment needs to be written in American English. However, even so (I'm guessing that English is not your native language, excuse me if I'm wrong):

Twice, the article states that the only use of the M13 was at Anzio, but elsewhere it says it was used at the Battle of the Bulge. This inconsistency keeps the article from being one that reasonably covering the topic without major omissions or inaccuracies." (B2)

Grammar:

"The M13 evolved from as series of" needs to be changed.
"Last the T1E4 was the same armament" needs to be changed.
"This was accepted into production as the M13 Multiple Gun Motor Carriage" What is "This"?
There is a lot of switching between the past tense and the present tense. Because this is an article about a historical item of equipment, the past tense should be used throughout.

Because this is an American item the English measurements should precede the metric measurements. WP:MOS#Units of measurement The article is inconsistent on this. Also, "gasoline", not "petrol, "ton", not "tonne" (with appropriate adjustment if needed)

Dates: You frequently use the form "the April 1944". This should be either "April 1944" or "April of 1944". I believe the first is preferred by the WP:MOS#dates

You have links to M2 Browning machine gun and M2 machine gun. Check WP:OVERLINK for multiple links to the same article. Usually link only to the first mention (not counting infoboxes, lead, etc.)

It's just me, but Some personal preferences that don't affect the rating up to B level:

I'd link Bendix Corporation, Martin Aircraft, bomber, anti-aircraft

Edit summaries, please

Welcome to Wikipedia. Here are a couple of general editing suggestions for you to consider:

  • Please make a habit of providing an edit summary when you make a change to an article. Doing so makes it easier for your colleagues here to understand the intention of your edit.
  • Plus, it will be easier for you and your co-editors to collaborate on articles if, instead of making multiple consecutive edits in rapid succession on an article, you use the "Show preview" button to view your changes incrementally before finally saving the page once you're satisfied with your edits. This keeps the page history of the article less cluttered.

Thanks in advance for considering these suggestions. Eric talk 23:42, 20 January 2015 (UTC)

Deletion of the page "Abby Whelan"

You placed the file for deletion on the page Abby Whelan as it did not have any sources or any reliable sources. Well now I have edited the page to which I have over two reliable sources, and are planning to have more as i continue to edit the wikipedia page. As such, I'm a little confused regarding the deletion of the page, as it should not be deleted if it has one or more reliable sources, and now that it has, I am only wondering if you could remove to tag, or if there is anything I should do? Twotimer17 (talk) 01:06, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

Last time I checked you should maybe retitle "Notes" as "References" and add some inline citations to the second half of the article. I am going to remove the tag later. Cheers, Tomandjerry211 (talk) 12:51, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

George Chakravarthi

Thank you for approving the article I submitted (George Chakravarthi) and grading it as B-class, which I thought was fair. Subsequently it was regraded by Primefac to C-class, after initially grading it as Start, which he admitted was an error (even though his task, apparently, was "fixing rankings", but he was sadly successfully wrecking them instead!!). I then asked him for clarification of the reasons for the C-class grading, as this implies gaps in the content and/or irrelevant content (this discussion is all on his talk page). He has not given me a reply, even though this all took place within a short period. I am very used to reading criteria and using them to award marks for papers at different levels, and can accept the B-class you awarded (hopefully top end), but I don't think the article in any way matches the criteria for C-class. I wonder if you can enter the discussion as a very experienced Wikipedian. Emerald (talk) 19:34, 6 February 2015 (UTC)

EmeraldRS, I will respond to your comments more fully on my talk page, but you should know that two minutes after I replied to your original comment I turned off my computer and went away for the weekend. Just because two comments are posted in quick succession does not mean the third necessarily will. Additionally, I am backlogged from this weekend and might not be able to respond to your query until tomorrow. DYK for M15 Halftrack

Thank you fro me and the wiki Victuallers (talk) 00:01, 13 February 2015 (UTC)

Dear TomandJerry, Hi - I liked your article on the M15 half track. Thanks. I just have a little worry about the tag line in the DYK. I think the article says that 39 planes were "claimed" at Kasserine where as the tag line says they "were" shot down during the Battle of Kasserine Pass. Do you think this "claim" was correct? It seems like an awful lot of planes to be shot down and although I don't have access to Zaloga (1994) I have not been able to find anything that would give support to this figure. Anyway best wishes (Msrasnw (talk) 12:02, 13 February 2015 (UTC))
It is correct. Regards, Tomandjerry211 Message for me? 20:07, 17 February 2015 (UTC)

Hi, please could you advise what to add to make the article less promotional? We based our entry on OKA Direct and I thought we had made it a non-promotional piece but maybe not. Our customers keep telling us that they like to read a Wikipedia page which is why we created one, this is not intended to help promote the business in any way.

Thanks for the advice.

Well, that was an accident. But the article does not meet the notability guidelines. The references do not state it's importance. My suggestion is to withdraw the submission or find other references that prove it's notability.Tomandjerry211 (talk) 12:25, 18 February 2015 (UTC)

Milhist contest

Hi there, I've seen you around recently doing some good work on light tanks and half-tracks, keep it up! FYI, I've been checking the articles for the Feb 2015 edition of the Milhist article writing contest and noticed that you self-assessed a couple of entries. It is easy to miss but as per the discussion on the contest page (under the heading "contest entries"), the competition is self-scoring but not self-assessing. Therefore you should get someone else to assess the articles you enter into the competition, even for those that are clearly only start or C-class. E.g. you assessed Talk:M1 Light Tractor as a C when in my view it is only a start. I've left this entry unchecked for the time being. Cheers. Zawed (talk) 19:57, 14 March 2015 (UTC)

I have undone your rating of Talk:67th (2nd Home Counties) Division. This article is definitely not "B" Class - its history is incomplete, for example. Hamish59 (talk) 19:23, 26 March 2015 (UTC)

00:13:30, 10 May 2015 review of submission by ASL TRES AMIGOS

Our article does have the references for anything quoted or for anything referred to. But we were told it was all quotes and no references....Can you not see the references posted at the end of the article? I see them..did they not go through with the article? We were also told that it was not "notable". We feel that this article is worthy of mention and the quoted sections are meant to relay information and give depth to the deaf eugenics issue. Please let us know what you feel we should do for the changes? Thank you.

ASL TRES AMIGOS (talk) 00:13, 10 May 2015 (UTC)

Well there is one major problem, this article contains only quotes, which is unencyclopedic for an article relying on quotes. Thanks, Tomandjerry211 (Let's have a chat) 00:26, 10 May 2015 (UTC)
