Here's your quick overview of what has been happening around Wikidata over the last week.

Need your opinion on a BLP matter

Hi. Can you offer your thoughts in this discussion? I could really use it. Thanks. Nightscream (talk) 15:11, 15 June 2013 (UTC)

DSS KIA Deletion

I understand your reasoning for deleting the DSS KIA page. I would argue that it was not a memorial page but rather setup to demonstrate the wide range of duties of DSS personnel, how DS personnel are killed in anonymity and where personnel are located.

Regardless, I never thought that the page would be deleted and as such kept my most recent records and links on the page. I will just move the information to a dedicated wiki/web page on my own server. I would like to get a copy of the last version of the page before deletion so I don't have to recreate a lot of work. Could you email it to me or provide me with a link. — Preceding unsigned comment added by DS Historian (talkcontribs) 05:00, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Done You can find it userfied at User:DS Historian/Bureau of Diplomatic Security KIA. —Tom Morris (talk) 18:06, 17 June 2013 (UTC)

Got it. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 88.230.76.174 (talk) 19:24, 18 June 2013 (UTC)

Changes to SuggestBot's suggestions

We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:

Views/Day
Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.
Quality
Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current assessment class, and predicted assessment class.

The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:

Content
Is more content needed?
Headings
Does this article have an appropriate section structure?
Images
Is the number of illustrative images about right?
Links
Does this article link to enough other Wikipedia articles?
Sources
For its length, is there an appropriate number of citations to sources in this article?

SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. We appreciate that you have signed up to receive suggestions regularly, your contributions make Wikipedia better — thanks for helping!

Article For Creation Question

Hey there!

Thanks for reviewing the article "Carrie Shade". I understand why the article wasn't submitted. I was wondering how long we could keep the "draft" of it, so I could add more reliable sources, as they come in (and if she eventually gets on the Ellen show, I'd rather not write that all again). If it should be deleted and be created again once acceptable, let me know. Have a nice day! (:

December Nights (talk) 13:39, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

Hi December Nights,
Generally, "stale" Articles for Creation drafts get deleted after six months. If an article is deleted, it can always be undeleted by asking any admin (or asking at the refund desk).
If you've got any further questions, don't hesitate to ask. —Tom Morris (talk) 13:42, 4 July 2013 (UTC)

Review of closure of article

Hi Tom,

This is in regards to the recent closure of the article http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nouman_Ali_Khan

I believe the article falls under the WP Notability Requirements, which states:

"Determining notability does not necessarily depend on things such as fame, importance, or popularity..."

I am in agreement that the previous citations provided in the article were not adequate. Though, once again quoting the WP requirements for notability

"The absence of citations in an article (as distinct from the non-existence of sources) does not indicate that the subject is not notable."

However, the person referred to in the WP Article has been presented in detail by indepentant media sources such as ArabNews.com http://www.arabnews.com/news/445647 . The website is not an Islamic website and contains daily articles on sports, economy, and lifestyle, and international news.

For the reasons above, I ask that the article is un-deleted, upon which I will take the responsibility for updating the article to remove uncertainties about its eligibility.

Thanks :) AlaniNZ (talk) 07:48, 4 July 2013 (UTC)AlaniNZ

I had a look at the article: there's fairly clear consensus in the deletion discussion to delete. The general notability guideline requires that we have significant coverage in multiple independent reliable sources. The ArabNews sources is probably a reliable source, but it is only one reliable source, Wikipedia needs multiple.
I believe I closed the deletion discussion appropriately and am not keen on overriding the consensus one day after closing. If you can point me to other sources, I'd be happy to reconsider. —Tom Morris (talk) 08:55, 4 July 2013 (UTC)
Hey Tom,
Point taken. I'll look around to see if there are other articles I can improve in the meantime :)
Thanks

Request for pending changes

Tom, would you mind putting pending changes on Diane Abbott? It has long been a target for a certain POV-pushing user. That user, User:Snakehands, is blocked but they have continued to edit as User:81.103.89.4. Perhaps you could block the IP as well (although I'm sure they won't give up that easily). Thanks! Delicious carbuncle (talk) 20:24, 8 July 2013 (UTC)

I've popped the article on pending changes and dropped a warning for the IP. If they persist, I'm sure a block will be forthcoming in the near future. —Tom Morris (talk) 20:35, 8 July 2013 (UTC)
