Question from Petestroh96 on El Paso Chihuahuas (10:01, 6 July 2023) edit

Hello, doesn't EP Chihuahuas sound kind of soft? How about EP Fuertes since EP's motto is EP strong? --Petestroh96 (talk) 10:01, 6 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello, @Petestroh96, and welcome to Wikipedia! Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, so it aims to include relevant, neutral, and verifiable information on notable topics. We do not have any say over the name of sports teams, and Wikipedia is not a forum for discussion or speculation on the subjects of articles. If you are interested in contributing to Wikipedia, such as by improving the page on the El Paso Chihuahuas, you can view an introductory tutorial here. Please let me know if you have any further questions! Tol (talk | contribs) @ 19:13, 6 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Message from Omn1kingbater edit

So let's say I went to page with people's names on it and I know someone that should also be there can I put their name there β€”Β Preceding unsigned comment added by Omn1kingbater (talk β€’ contribs) 13:53, 14 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello, @Omn1kingbater; welcome to Wikipedia! I believe you are referring to a list article (as in, "List of..."). These lists will have some sort of selection criteria; often, this will be that list entries should themselves be notable (and hence have or could have a Wikipedia page on them). Sometimes, entries that are not notable on their own can be added to a list, but notability is usually the criterion for lists of people. As a general rule, if you personally know or are involved with another person or topic, you should avoid writing about it β€” so you should avoid adding information on people you know directly to Wikipedia. However, if the person you are thinking of already has a Wikipedia article, then it is likely that the person is notable, and you would be more than welcome to add the name to the list, if appropriate. NPP Backlog drive edit

Hello @Tol. Just wanted to let you know that the new pages patrol is planning to have a backlog drive in October. I wanted to ask you if you could setup @TolBot for this? Wikipedia:New pages patrol/Backlog drives/October 2023 has more information. Courtesy ping @Zippybonzo as coordinator. - πŸ”₯π‘°π’π’π’–π’”π’Šπ’π’ π‘π’π’‚π’Žπ’† (π’•π’‚π’π’Œ)πŸ”₯ 20:51, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Yes, @Illusion Flame; I can set that up for October (link for future reference). I see there's a scoring system to assign points to redirects and articles; how would you and @Zippybonzo like the leaderboard table to be formatted? Tol (talk | contribs) @ 21:05, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks! I’ll leave the final leaderboard formatting decision up to Zippy, but I think number of articles reviewed in one column, number of redirects reviewed in another column, and total points in a third column. - πŸ”₯π‘°π’π’π’–π’”π’Šπ’π’ π‘π’π’‚π’Žπ’† (π’•π’‚π’π’Œ)πŸ”₯ 21:08, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
@Illusion Flame: There were discussions about weighted values as well. The values haven't been decided yet so that formula is TBD. Table and scripting to count articles vs redirects can still be worked on in the mean time though. Hey man im josh (talk) 21:15, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
I believe weighted values are probably the best, with a 3:1 ratio. Zippybonzo | Talk (he|him) 02:50, 19 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Please comment above in leaderboard formatting. Thanks and enjoy your vacation! - πŸ”₯π‘°π’π’π’–π’”π’Šπ’π’ π‘π’π’‚π’Žπ’† (π’•π’‚π’π’Œ)πŸ”₯ 02:51, 19 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Another request, can you maybe make it so pages near the 90 day mark get an extra point? CC @Illusion Flame Zippybonzo | Talk (he|him) 12:33, 20 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Maybe let’s open an on-wiki discussion about points @Zippybonzo? - πŸ”₯π‘°π’π’π’–π’”π’Šπ’π’ π‘π’π’‚π’Žπ’† (π’•π’‚π’π’Œ)πŸ”₯ 13:05, 20 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

Pages for TolBot 13D to move edit

Talk:1967 Alpine Skiing World Cup – Men's Downhill#Requested move 6 July 2023 looks like it might finish up soon with a solid consensus to de-capitalize skiing event names. But with a twist thrown in, to also de-capitalize "Men's" and "Women's" after the en dash, which would be unusual and didn't get a consensus last time I tried that in tennis. Seem OK to move as proposed? Dicklyon (talk) 23:54, 18 July 2023 (UTC)Reply

@Dicklyon: Hm; interesting. I don't believe it'll gain consensus to lowercase the words immediately after the en-dashes (and I think wider discussion would be needed for a change of that scale), but moving these as proposed looks fine to me. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 04:55, 19 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
I have closed this request (Talk:1967 Alpine Skiing World Cup – Men's Downhill#Requested move 6 July 2023) as having a consensus to move (as originally proposed). The moves are listed at User:Dicklyon/Skiing. They can be moved when convenient. {{replyto|SilverLocust}} (talk) 09:36, 20 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, @SilverLocust. I'll run the moves within the next day. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 04:21, 21 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Nevermind, it would be no bother for me to do the moves myself. I wouldn't mind some free edits anyway. Thanks anyway! (Finished.) {{replyto|SilverLocust}} (talk) 13:29, 23 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
Thanks, both. Dicklyon (talk) 20:25, 23 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
My apologies; I was unexpectedly quite busy and didn't get to this nearly as quickly as I had thought. Thanks for taking care of this. Tol (talk | contribs) @ 22:26, 24 July 2023 (UTC)Reply
