Question from CactiStaccingCrane (14:42, 1 February 2023) edit

I'm not a newcomer to Wikipedia, but I just wanna ask one question: what motivated you to join the Growth project as a mentor and what do you feel about being a mentor overall? --CactiStaccingCrane 14:42, 1 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

@CactiStaccingCrane: My previous experience on Wikipedia, especially at AfC, led me to believe that many newcomers simply need some guidance and support as they start out. I forget exactly what I saw first (I think it was on the technical village pump), but it led me to the Growth Team mentor tools, and I thought I should give it a try. I think it's been worthwhile — while I have been a bit disappointed by the number of questions from users who seem to only want to promote themselves, a quick look at my list of mentees shows a good number of productive users as well. Question from KING Adrien (15:43, 7 February 2023) edit

Hi, How can I edit something, and not violate the rules? --KING Adrien (talk) 15:43, 7 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hello, @KING Adrien, and welcome to Wikipedia! You might find the tutorial useful to become acquainted with Wikipedia editing in general. Your edits to Maryland, specifically, were reverted primarily because the information you added was in the wrong place. You added the statement that "Maryland has a unique seal and flag" at the very top of the article, before even the lead sentence ("Maryland is a state in the Mid-Atlantic region of the United States"). Wikipedia has some guidelines on articles' lead sections; this information about Maryland's flag and seal is not important enough be included anywhere in the lead section, and the article should start with a statement of what Maryland is, not information about its symbols. This information would likely be better placed in appropriate sections of the articles on the Flag of Maryland and Seal of Maryland. Additionally, you should cite a source that supports the claim that the symbols are "unique", so that this claim is verifiable. Please let me know if you have any further questions! Question from Anya0803 (16:40, 26 February 2023) edit

Hi I'm wanting to write a research paper about an Apparatus kindly help me --Anya0803 (talk) 16:40, 26 February 2023 (UTC)Reply

Hi, @Anya0803, and welcome to Wikipedia! Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, where users can write articles about notable subjects. Wikipedia is not a publisher of original thought or research; in fact, we even have a policy against original research. If this apparatus is already notable — meaning that it's gained significant coverage in reliable sources — it would be an appropriate topic for a Wikipedia article; otherwise, it would not. I'm not sure exactly what type of apparatus you are trying to write on — could you provide a bit more detail? Tol (talk | contribs) @ 03:22, 28 February 2023 (UTC)Reply
