Bettina Cirone edit

Hi,

If you look at this comparison, you'll see that I:

  • added {{citation needed}} tags where information was inserted that did not come from the cited source
  • added a {{better source}} tag for the blog
  • added a {{verification needed}} tag where "Tuna" was changed to "Tuma". The source says "Tuna". Do you have a source for "Tuma" for a note to clarify what appears to have been a typo?

Thanks! If I can clarify any of this, please let me know.--CaroleHenson (talk) 05:07, 17 March 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello CaroleHenson

Thanks for stepping back into this, I appreciate it!!! SO, I was trying to mimic the way you referenced, WOW!, I must learn coding. I wanted to add the fact of employment that was described in the Stephen Granoff P.R. Company had written about Bettina. I took them from the following link which I had someone create on bitLanders at the URL I added. The info regarding Bettina's first job was stated there and is both written out and there's a picture of the release on the letterhead in the bitlanders post: http://www.bitlanders.com/blogs/photographer-bettina-cirone-sharing-her-5-decade-long-photography-archives-on-bitlanders/2864644 Is that pr release a sufficient validation of Bettina's working at the Lower Manhattan Development commission? AND/Or was there a better way to add this onto the wikipage?
Thank YOU!!! --Tmcourtney (talk) 14:44, 17 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
My pleasure. Here's the wrinkle: blogs are rarely considered reliable sources, because there's no editorial function. (See Wikipedia:Blogs). The document identified by the blog as a press releases doesn't look like a press release, there's no date, and it's not identified as a press-release. This doesn't appear to meet the guidelines for Reliable sources, which are most stringent for biographies of living people.
I think we should return the text to the way it was. In the scheme of things, the additions didn't add a lot to the article - and skirts the use of reliable sources.--CaroleHenson (talk) 16:53, 17 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hello Carole! I will take your advice and revert back as best as I remember, I unfortunately didn't save exactly as you wrote prior but I have a good idea! I'm sure I'll be back at you for something soon! Thanks as always! TC --Tmcourtney (talk) 19:51, 17 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
Sounds good, if you need help, let me know.--CaroleHenson (talk) 04:19, 18 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hello Carole, I wanted to share the following link from the New York Post Bettina Cirone made me aware of { http://nypost.com/?s=bettina+cirone&orderby=date&order=asc } There's 42 references to her "contributing" small news blurbs to their gossip column. Also Bettina has in her possession the signed Warhol/Tennessee Williams & Anthony Quinn/ Erte photographs. Would they be relevant to upload somewhere. They are images taken by her. Thank you as always for the assistance , tc --Tmcourtney (talk) 17:12, 31 March 2015 (UTC)Reply
Yep, I had seen some of these before, like the Page Six articles where she's mentioned but it was hard to sort of what was notable content for an encyclopedia. For instance, what would go into the article from the article that mentioned Ted Turner? If you can come up with some content that's suitable for an encyclopedia, that would be great!
Regarding images, I see that there's nothing left in the commons category for Cirone, so I posted a question at this link on commons for direction about what changes need to be made - or directions followed - to have the images successfully uploaded. And, always, it's my pleasure!--CaroleHenson (talk) 02:06, 1 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
Thank you for that Carole as she certainly has many photo's!!! The New York Post, was more to the fact she was contributing to the NY POST (as a Journalist (A Stretch I guess, when reading the blurbs) - Yesterday the New York Historical Society gave us an extensive list of her donations/contributions to the Society. I have an email to them to figure how they can provide us a Wiki approved form of verification. It would be a nice addition. Have a great day and will be back when I hear --100.33.106.194 (talk) 16:34, 1 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
Ah, gotcha, regarding the New York Post. I'll put something together. Regarding the images, the responder at Commons said to seethis link where there's a sample email to send to OTRS, with the email address. And, if permission is send for the images that were deleted, they can be undeleted. I hope this helps!--CaroleHenson (talk) 16:42, 1 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
THANK YOU CAROLE! I will have Bettina email them. Is there a Wiki link/code for Bettina to specifically reference for the deleted pics to be undeleted when she emails OTRS? --100.33.106.194 (talk) 16:58, 1 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

You can get the file names by looking at the revision history of the article:

  • Commons:File:KardashianSisters@JillStuartShow 9 1110 by BettinaCirone42 (10).jpg
  • etc.

Perfect!!! Thanks Carole!!!! --100.33.106.194 (talk) 18:08, 1 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
A quick update. this email is from Samantha at The NY Historical Society - I think I'll need to wait for it to be uploaded to have a Wiki post. ( POSSIBLY A RECEIPT WITH LETTERHEAD ??)
"Hello Thomas, Unfortunately, the record for the Bettina Cirone material is not online yet, however we are working to get it ready and up on the website. As the collection is part of the library collections, it will be accessible via the library's online catalog, not the museum collections database. For the time being, we would be happy to verify with Wikipedia that the collection is here and was donated by Ms. Cirone. If it is important that you link somewhere, you could state that a collection of Ms. Cirone's work and various ephemera is held at the New-York Historical Society in the Department of Prints, Photographs and Architectural Collections. Please inform me of anything we can do to help verify the collection prior to it's finding aid being uploaded to the website.

Best, Samantha" Thanks Carole! --100.33.106.194 (talk) 19:46, 1 April 2015 (UTC)Reply

Hello Carole, Back to finds from Bettina's archives., and possible (PROBABLY NOT) uploadable info on where her work was contributed to. I have an article from the American Society of Media Photographer (ASMP) - DATE Unknown. But the page shows Bettinas images and a list of her clients including: TWA, PAN AM, American Express, AVON, Kool, Mobil Oil, Ladies Home Journal, Diversion, Playboy, Women's Wear Daily, SAVVY, Cosmopolitan, American Photographer, Photo Methods, UNICEF, United Nations, and the ones you already listed. If i were to share this actual page with you would that be enough? ( I AM TRYING THOUGH I AM ALREADY THINK I KNOW THE ANSWER) BTW did you watch the Wikipedia story on 60 minutes? (were you in London dancing:)) here it is in case: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/how-wikipedia-fights-vandals/ Thanks again --Tmcourtney (talk) 14:39, 6 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
Hello CaroleHenson , Regarding information that I find regarding Bettina that exists as a physical article, not a URL link of an article. How can I (OR ANYONE)

upload the information to Wikipedia if you can not provide the digital link, having only the facts on paper? --Tmcourtney (talk) 21:08, 13 April 2015 (UTC)Reply
