Fukushima timeline edit

I noted that in the deletion debate for the above article you suggested a cleanup. I am curious what you had in mind? Sandpiper (talk) 18:47, 13 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Timelines are normally created in such a way that the readers would get a summarized account of the events that happened. The list is presented as a bit too narrative. Stress points need to be addressed by being straight to the point. Also, you might want to ask other hardcore copy-editors to help out. I'll try to help out too. --TitanOne (talk) 13:06, 14 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
The listings are already a summarised account. I think that in the fullness of time some points will change because new facts become available and some things will become redundant, but I also think there will be more to say on exactly what did happen. The real question is how would you suggest putting across a detailed description of the events, which is the task which the article is attempting to do. It is described as a timeline because it is peppered with at 1:00 this and 2:00 that and 3:00 the other. These timeings can not really be removed from a description because the order and relative timing of events is all part of understanding what happened. So either you have a block of text where every other sentence begins 2:00, or you have a time indexed list giving as much prose for each entry as is needed. What you cannot do is start cutting information. Or do you disagree? Sandpiper (talk) 09:23, 15 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
What do you think if we place the time line in table form? --TitanOne (talk) 13:54, 15 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
what is the objective of doing so? There would then be a page consisting of a table rather than paragraphs starting with date/time as now. I think that probably the level of details will fall off with time, things were extremely hectic at firt but now are more routine. So I suspect that while the timeline needs a lot of detail with timestamps to begin with, by the end it is down to on Monday such and such, on tuesday susch and such, or even not mentioning days because nothing new happened. So in fact, it might not suit to be using a consistent approach throughout. Sandpiper (talk) 21:06, 18 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Good point Sandpiper, my only concern is that the article needs improvements on the scale of its reader-friendly orientation. --TitanOne (talk) 14:28, 19 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hey Atenista, do you have any interest in becoming an administrator? Admins can delete and protect pages, view history of deleted pages/files, edit fully protected pages, and block users. Your record is stellar, and I would be happy to nominate you at WP:RFA if you feel like these powers could be of use. TheCoffee (talk) 04:18, 15 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Hey, nice to hear from you. I've actually been wanting to. I'm just not sure if my credentials were enough already? --TitanOne (talk) 13:43, 15 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Let's see... You've been around for over 2 years, made a ton of DYKs, and your user page says you contributed to 3 Good Article and 1 Feature Article. And you already have rollbacker, autopatrolled, and reviewer privileges. You may have a chance... But if you're not sure you could revisit the idea after raking up more edits and experience. :p TheCoffee (talk) 04:32, 17 April 2011 (UTC)Reply
Give me 3 months to rack up a good record on the non-editing stuff such as RFA's, AFD's, etc. I've been contributing more around on content and took a wikibreak for about a year. I'll let you know when I'm ready. --TitanOne (talk) 08:32, 18 April 2011 (UTC)Reply

Speedy deletion nomination of FirstCarbon Solutions edit

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on FirstCarbon Solutions requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about an organization or company, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. 2019 US Banknote Contest edit

  US Banknote Contest
November-December 2019

There are an estimated 30,000 different varieties of United States banknotes, yet only a fraction of these are represented on Wikimedia Commons in the form of 2D scans. Additionally, Colonial America, the Confederate States, the Republic of Texas, multiple states and territories, communities, and private companies have issued banknotes that are in the public domain today but are absent from Commons.

In the months of November and December, WikiProject Numismatics will be running a cross-wiki upload-a-thon, the 2019 US Banknote Contest. The goal of the contest is to increase the number of US banknote images available to content creators on all Wikimedia projects. Participants will claim points for uploading and importing 2D scans of US banknotes, and at the end of the contest all will receive awards. Whether you want to claim the Gold Wiki or you just want to have fun, all are invited to participate.

If you do not want to receive invitations to future US Banknote Contests, follow the instructions here

Proposed deletion of File:BadmintonJumpSmash.jpg edit

The file File:BadmintonJumpSmash.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Low quality image of non-notable badminton player, no foreseeable encyclopedic use.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
