• You don't have to have a new article worked out in its final form before you post an initial version, but you really should have enough to indicate clearly what the article is about, and why it is significant enough to be the subject of an article in an encyclopaedia. Also, don't put remarks like "work in progress" in articles. In a sense, all Wikipedia articles are works in progress, but an article should contain information about the subject of the article, not about the article itself, or about the process of writing the article. Comments about writing the article belong in the article's talk page, not the article itself. (There is a link labelled "talk" at the top of the page.) My own advice is to start by making small improvements to existing articles, rather than by creating new articles. That way you can learn what is acceptable and what isn't, and any mistakes you make will be small ones, so you won't have wasted a lot of time and effort on them. Once you know your way around better you can then create whole new articles, if you like. I am also giving you a welcome message, which contains links to various pages that may be helpful to you. You are not expected to read all of them in detail before you make any edits (there are far too many of them for that), but do have a look at the ones which seem most relevant.
