Request for Addition of Researcher Permissions

I am sure the answer is going to be no, but what is the chance that I could get the researcher permission? I just want it to be able to look at deleted edits and pages, I would not need it for any of my actual editing work here on Wikipedia, which is why I am sure it will be denied. But I have been a constructive user of Wikipedia for 14 years so it is pretty obvious that I would not use it abusively. Thebirdlover (talk) 03:39, 31 March 2024 (UTC)

You can't ask for this bit in this way. It doesn't even look like something an ordinary administrator would be able to grant. Instead, the path for getting this bit set looks like it leads through having a research project approved: - m:Research:Projects and you'll need more justification than just wanting to see deleted edits and pages. I agree, no one revert this even though this joker is going to get blocked again. In all honesty though, I do appreciate the dubious honor. I really like researching into vandalism and you had a cavalcade of accounts to dive into. I hope you find some other way to channel your distinctive sense of humor. • Well, you could tell your friend to enable email, or to email you. My suspicion is that they're just getting a kick out of disrupting people who are working on something they don't understand.   • He can feel free to, I don't know why he hasn't. I primarily think he's bored and wants something to fill his time, I empathize with it because I've been there. I obviously can't be that person 100% of the time and would have to reinforce appropriate boundaries since I lead a busy life (and I'm bad at responding to my real life friends to begin with), but I definitely would enjoy chatting with him from time to time in a way that doesn't affect Wikipedia. And his vandalism has also significantly lessened since I started my relaxed approach to dealing with his shenanigans so I think me being friendly and personable has made a bit of a difference. You can hit me with a wet noodle if I am wrong here and everything gets chaotic in the summer like he's claiming, but I don't think he's actually a malignant force--just misunderstood and trying to do something to feel important. --Thebirdlover (talk) 20:34, 12 April 2024 (UTC)

I appreciate you messaging me, but you should use the email feature in the future and not communicate directly on my talk page from now on if you legitimately want to continue the chat, since it is in violation of your ban and not really the point of Wikipedia. And you are a sockpuppet, so yes I would've reported you. Just because I am friendly does not mean I don't take vandalism seriously. I definitely still want to talk to you, but believe this is a convo more appropriate for off Wiki if you can be mature and maintain my privacy (such as not leaking identifying info) like I would with you (although I would still report accounts if you admitted you were vandalizing). --Thebirdlover (talk) 20:51, 12 April 2024 (UTC)
